Basically when i started playing EQ2 last week i made a paladin. I didn't really like the feel of the character a lot so i decided the next day to make a fury. Well now the fury is lvl 15 and i was wondering. Are fury's placed at the back of groups/raids and pretty much forced to spam heals. Is this their class roll?Do they play as a hybrid in group/raids if specc'd towards damage?Basically i'm coming from a Paladin in Wow and sick and tired of raiding and sitting at the back spamming 2 buttons on my keyboard. And outside of raids i couldn't Pvp or solo well because i was in healing gear.I don't want to run into the same problems as i did in Wow so i want to know up front what fury endgame is like. Thanks!

I play a Paladin and my wife plays a Fury. When we duo, she only heals me once my health bar turns yellow (or orange sometimes LOL). The rest of the time she just melees, nukes and DPSes. As a Paladin I have no problems whatsoever keeping aggro, even if she does nothing but nuke.

In a full group she pretty much sticks to healing, unless grouped with a Templar or Inquisitor; then she mixes in some DPS also

In a raid she has no problems keeping the MT up if she's the main healer. If she's in a support or DPS group in the raid, she does mix up DPS. That is her style of play and regardless of her other alts, she always comes back to her Fury.

A Fury also has a group invis spell and ports that makes them pretty popular in groups.

A druid can be either dps or healer, or both.. But yes you will be sitting back some 20m from the mobs most of the time since your dps comes from ranged nukes.. However on mobs that don't aoe, or those that I know wont kick my [Removed for Content] with AoEs, I usually go up close and melee for power proc from weapon adornment and the occasional animal form... I've once been in a scout/mage mixed dps group and winded up parsing #2 healer and #5 dps in the same fight on a named mob.. I seriously doubt any other class can pull that off..

I guess i can make the question simpler by askingIn a group/raid does a fury sit back and press 2 heal buttons and watch green bars go up and down the whole time or can they dps/heal effectively as a hybrid

I use more than 2 buttons in a raid group or a regular group.

As a Fury you also have a few debuffs and some dots. I always try to get those in between heals. There are also conditions to be cured, which is also very important in raid instances.

I have to say that I have NEVER been bored with my role in a raid setting or a group.

While I have yet to raid, I have solo healed some pretty tough instances... mashing the same two buttons... I WISH, LOL

Just to give you an idea... in addition to curing, which is a big part, you have the following heals:

Heal Over Time; HOT

Fast casting, small'ish heal

Slow casting, big'ish heal

Group HOT

Group Heal

Intsa cast heal

Insta cast HOT

Hibernation, a spell that kicks off a rather large GROUP heal after 10 seconds. If you have the AA for it then it will trigger early if anyone in group falls to 15% HP

Back into the Fray... a fast casting, fast refreshing medicre heal... UNLESS you land it when your "Healee" is below 50% HP... then it's a pretty BIG heal.

You have all these heals at your disposal... how do you best use them to keep a group alive when the spam hits the fan? Or even if your tank or designated "healee" is taking sudden spike damage? Use fast cast small heal to buffer them... then big heal... or HOT? You have to decide... and the very LAST thing you can expect is to be mashing the same two buttons over and over again.

Do I just stare at HP bars though the whole time? <shrugs> Only when things go south... usually I'm tossing some DoT's or Nukes into the mix too and watching the action unfold, calling out incoming adds etc. But when things go really WRONG... yeah... I'm staring so intently at the HP bars there are times the fight's over, my Tank has given the "Moving Out" command in group chat... and I don't see it because I'm too afraid to take my eyes off the HP bars. It's not until a few seconds later when I realize no one is taking any damage anymore that I realize the fight is over.

Again, while I have yet to raid as a Fury... due to my experience in groups and instances... I'll dare say that being a Fury is NOT dull, hehehe.

Give it a shot.

I hope this helps some.

Take care.

In my limited experience it's been mixed, dps and throw out the odd heal unless the MT's getting spanked.

If you are aiming for endgame and to raid the newest and greatest in a hardcore guild, then yes you will be placed in the healer slot - just like paladin's in wow.

If you never want to heal in raids and would prefer doing damage then perhaps a shadow knight would be a better suit for you?

In group settings if the tank is good, you'll be able to dps very often, no way in hell you can play with 2 buttons, more like 22.In raids you will likely be in the mage group, not a lot of healing, chance to do high dps and buffs supporting it too.I heard that wow paladins after divine illumination has been nerfed, reverted to a single button, FoL forever... is that true?
