When I use my persona I never use ranged on him. I find him have lot crappier dps if it is on ranged, well that is my impression. So any one tested the difference on dps on persona ranged vs close combat.

i never tested the dps difference with pet on ranged vs mele.. but i always use mine on ranged for 2 reason.. 1st it will cast its spells as soon as they refresh insted of sitting there swinging its weak weapon so that way you get more roots/stuns/stiffles as well as casting its dmg spells more often..2nd it is just physicaly weak and gets owned in mele range..one question i have for you..are you lvl 70..haveing a low lvl persona might make a difference since they dont have all the spells a higher lvl persona has.

Dulamar

70 illusionst

Forsaken/LDL

I use my persona in melee mode for most encounters, switching to ranged mode for ^^ and ^^^ mobs.Kills are much faster, and fights are more manageable with the pet in melee mode, since you can get in close yourself, reducing the chance of adds, and maybe even get a swing in yourself. You also get the benefit of being able to use the prismatic line. Survivability becomes the issue against heroics. Having to mez the mob halfway through a fight and recast the persona is a pain, and it gives you 10secs of not being able to do anything while the bar fills up.I'm 64 right now (on my second illusionist, don't ask) So I do have the same pet as a lvl70. It really does come down to your playstyle though. When fighting, I like to mow through as many mobs as possible; so I usually do groups of down arrow mobs, pausing evey once in a while if my health starts to fall. If you really like grinding, instead of pausing you can switch to ranged mode when(/if) both you and your persona are low on health.

I have a question on pet ranged do u have to tell your pet each time you zone to be ranged mode ? or its just like that to me ? its seems mine run to the mob eventho i used the /ranged command after i zone .

Then i put IA on her too maybe helps if its already hitting the mob lol (and put TC on it ofcourse too lol )

I am lvl 70 illu. And no the pet dont have to wait to cast the spells. Auto attack takes like 0.5 secs. and after that it will cast a new spell and so on. That is really not a issue. Yeah my pet dies a few times now and then but not even that is really a big problem. I did solo acad and my pet might have die like 3-4 times.
