Hail and well met all,

After seeing various Monk videos, (top awards going to Poetry in Motion by the way), and some Monks fighting in game... I've noticed some VERY cool fighting animations.

Here's my question...

I've seen what appear to be four different kicking animations:

Straight forward "Thrust Kick"

A Roundhouse Kick, (Lv 5 kicking animation).

A jumping, spinning, back thrust kick.

A jumping spinning, reverse crescent or whirlwind kick.

Are these all kicking animations we'll get to fight with? The last one listed above I've only seen when someone was doing that Lv 20 fun Kata spell... not sure if it's a real fighting animation or not.

Are these all true fighting animation kicks? Do we ever have all four of them at once? If not how many do we ever have at one time with which to cycle through?

I'm thinking of rolling a Monk alt, (was my main oh those many years ago in EQI), but just haven't gotten around to it yet. And of course I'm thinking of rolling one for all the wrong reasons:

I can always have the "Gi look" now with appearance tabs

I want a fighter with those 4 cool kicking animations in my fighting repetoire.

My Fury is Lv 64 now and once he hits Lv 70, (by end of Oct. if I can keep my leveling rate up), I want to roll an alt; Monk being one of the contenders.

Thanks for your info.

Take care.

I think you should stick to your Fury. You couldn't handle the Monk.

Hm... I think the previous poster should stick to his monk. He can't handle humour

k i'll make this short:My monk is 64 and fights with his bare hands (str AA), kicks that are available are as followsthrust Kickback thrust kickreverse crescent kick (from second ability in wis line, AA's)the roundhouse kick, my favorite is not available and the higher versions of the spell use the back thrust animation...no idea why i still keep the lvl5 kick on my hot bar when i want to do it just for the looks, but i think it should be put back on that spell line) not sure how these animations would show if u use weapons as i don't and won't hope this helps

I did a number of different moves to get those kicks in the video. Most I can say were from the Kata fun spell. I have found fighting with bare hands is different than fighting with say a bo staff. I guess I never really paid a lot of attention to the animation of the kicks. I have a few that are different and a round house that seems to go off differently depending on the weapon I'm carring (or lack there of) at the time. Elquinjena did a fantastic job and was a great director on what she needed me to do.

If your thinking of rolling a monk just because we look cool (which btw we do, I won't lie hehe) I think you'll be lacking in your character. We're more than a pretty face and fancy moves. If you want my all out honest opinion the frogloks have some pretty sweet monk moves that no other races has. At least that has been my experience thus far.
