I have an overseas friend who is having problems going Linkdead in game and is not particularly computer savvy. I'm trying to get to the bottom of exactly what could be causing the problem but it's proving to be quite difficult because I can't establish the specs of her PC, network / firewall setup etc.Let me describe the problem and what I think might be the cause, and if anyone has any experience of anything similar or knows what the problem is and any possible resolutions we'd both be over the moon, as it's nearly a year since she last played properly (partially due to this reason amongst other things), and is missing the game immensely, and I'm missing hanging with her! Here's the problem...On attempting to move any of her characters in any shape or form (walking, running, socials etc.) she goes Linkdead. However, she is able to use all in-game chat systems for hours on end and see other people moving around - it only happens when she engages in any type of movement herself, at which point she will go Linkdead, which obviously renders EQ2 into just a chat room for her. Here's what I think may be the cause...The Linkdead aspect (and she definitely does go Linkdead as I've witnessed it) leads me to believe that there's obviously a connectivity problem - likely to be a firewall. As far as I know she has no other internet connectivity problems with anything else, such as surfing, email etc. As far as I know she doesn't get any error messages, I believe she just gets thrown back to the character selection screen.

I just find it peculiar that all in-game chat systems work fine without problem, but maybe that's because the chat channels communicate on different ports or something? So am I barking up the wrong tree in making the assumption it's a firewall issue, or am I on the right lines? If it is a firewall problem I've found a helpful looking page in the Knowledge Base regarding configuring Firewalls although it could be a nightmare helping her remotely.Any thoughts, suggestions, feedback most welcome, thanks for reading!
