Hi, my friends and I started playing eq II a couple of weeks ago and have decided that we want to continue the game. We purchased the direct DL of the basic EQ II because we were unsure if it would be a game we'd want to invest in.So.. this leaves us in a little bit of a bind. Being that the game itself is close to a new expansion, We would like them all, but unsure if our characters can wait out the next month and half for the benefits of ap's and such. We are already in our low-mid 30's and don't really want to start all over again. A couple of questions.1. How hard will it be to catch up on achievment experience if we decide to wait until the retail version is released? We are a bit more then casual gamers and will lvl at a good pace.)2. Has Sony ever offered a prepurchase with upgrade so we can get everything up to EOF and will include RoK when it's released? (If not.. Sony should really think about doing this for people.=P ) Any suggestions would be appreciated.

From what I hear the expansion will have a starting city, but most of the content will be 70+. So, eh. I don't think theres a need to wait unless you want to wait for a bundle like they have with the EoF which includes DoF, KoS, and EoF expansions. I'm honestly not sure how they are going to work that. But if you view it being a while before hitting 70 it may not be worthwhile to wait. The best AA benefit is quests. So the longer you wait the longer it will probably take to max out AA.

http://www.direct2drive.com/6/4362/...lation-Download (Thats the best value currently)

My main character has (level 70) 75 AA (was around level 50 when the AA system was introduced), my alt (level 70) has 94 AA had a better start. Grey quests don't give AA. One of my other alts has 36AA at level 44 - he hasn't done a whole lot of quests)

I think it really depends on how high of level you plan to get before November. I've personally held off on expansions when they were high level only. You really won't see much of that content until you get up there. This time around I have 4 characters capped at level 70 so I'll likely get it at release.

You'll definately get behind some, all those quests you do between now and then could be counting towards AA. It's not going to be *impossible*, but it won't be as easy as it would because you don't have the head start on it.

I'm one of those friends that joined with dangergirl. One of the big problems that came up with us is that the Faydwer expansion was actually not available anywhere except as a digital download from Sony. As we understood it at that time, the digital download was ONLY the Faydwer expansion (and not all-inclusive of previous expansions). Therefore, we assumed we would have to pay for and download each separate expansion (and adventure packs) if we wanted them. We both live in small, rural areas where running to the nearest Game Stop to pick up a copy isn't an option. Also, we looked online to order the Faydwer expansion (understanding the retail DID include all previous expansions), but they have all been removed and put on the discontinued list and therefore unavailable anywhere unless you're lucky to find a copy sitting on someone's shelf.

The way it sounds for AP's, we're going to really have a hard time earning them if we keep leveling up as we currently are. We certainly feel like we're in a bind here and would love any help we could get.

Thank you.

EDIT--

It sounds like we should get the all-in-one download there and just not bother getting the new expansion in November. Possibly wait until an expansion after this one and try to piggy-back them?

Definately check out this link http://www.direct2drive.com/6/4362/...lation-Download I posted previously. That's all bundled in that. I haven't ordered there personally but definately the best bang for the buck at the moment. You should be able to just enter the ke from that purchase on the respective accounts (eq2players.com - "My Account" and Enter Key" and the patcher should download the additional content.

Kunark is going to be mostly a 70 + expansion. You'll miss out on a new race, epics & other high end content. There well be 3 new gods, but you can always switch gods so no biggie there either. I don't think it's going to add much of anything that a brand new player to the game couldn't wait a while on.

You 'can' get EOF all in one (includes the other expansions) from direct2drive just as if you picked up the boxed copy from the store. I imagine they'll have Kunark there as well.

As for the achievement points. I was level 60 when they were introduced (the level cap at the time) and was an avid quester so had done the majority of the quests available to me before the Kingdom of Sky expansion hehe. Got those first 50ap without a problem in the 10 levels KOS added. When EOF came out I was lvl 70 and once again got those 50ap that expansion added without issue just doing the content that came with that expansion. In fact I STILL have a bunch of quests from eof in my book I'm putting off so I can get a little xp when Kunark comes out.

Ap are icing really. They are nice and fun and useful, but not gamebreakingly powerful, and not 'required' like aa and trait specs were/are in EQ1 & WoW. You can do fine without them if you choose to wait for Kunark to purchase the bundle. Or you could get the EOF bundle and postpone your Kunark purchase until you get into your 60s.

I'm really wondering if they will bundle RoK. It would only really make a difference if they did a bundle with all the expansions. But I'm not quite sure that would happen. If they don't offer it in a bundle it really won't matter.

Thanks for the replies. We are now proud new owners of the all-in-one bundle.

For the record, at Fan Faire we were told that Kunark is lvl 1-20 and lvl 65+.
