Patcher keeps going up in ETA?

Hello , my friend just bought Echoes of Faydwer retail, and installed it, he is currently running his patcher, and since last evening around 8PM .  He is only downloading Original EQ 2.  But, his problem is his patcher, after last night, at this time, is says it has , 10:75:30 seconds.  now, an hour ago, is said it had 05:30:15 left until finish.  Why did this happen?

Times fluctuate during the DL process as speeds change, but that's a really long time....nearly a 24 hour DL so far and still time to go? How is he connected to the net?
