Hello folks. I have been away from EQ2 for 2007. I am looking to get back into the game. I was playing a mid lvl mystic before i left. I am looking for something different to try out, and have never played a cloth class before. How are things going for the illusionist atm :1. Is it a fun class to play?2. Seems like we can DPS and good utility is this correct?3. From what i read we are needed on raids.I would mainly be playing with my wife's evil furys (She has two not sure why). Is that a decent mix of classes? Hopefully we will get larger groups and with CC and healing that should be a decent foundation. When i played before there was never any CC classes about to group with. My mystic was fun too but i found it started to get a bit dull. Illusionist seems to be alittle more varied play style but i am only lvl 9. After lvl 20 i should not be too hard to group with my wifes evil char? I was thinking coercer but i keep reading the illusionist is much better atm.

1. a class being fun is a matter of personal oppinion. mine is yes illusionist is a very fun class to play you have tons of options no how you want to play the class and illusionst is highly regarded for grouping and is also a great soloer

2. yes we have both good dps and utiltie... depending on your set up you can be great dps/good utilitie/good mezzer, or ok dps/good utiltie/great mezzer... i perfer the first since mezzing plays such a small role in this game and with master 1 mezzes in conjunction with the momentary sentiments buff line you get very few resist (if any at all) with out spending aa points in lyour mez line. this is also a matter of oppinion most people set there aa baces on witch parts of the class they like best..

3. Every raid need atleast 1 if not 2 illusionst to have a solid set up illusionst add heaps of dps and mana regen to raids.

Fury + illusionist = great combo... use /pet ranged with your persona then root and nuke away you can kill almost anything that way.. then with your mezzing abilities y ou can keep large groups or adds under control and safely take them down one at a time.. also with a fury you have dps and heals cant go wrong there.

Dulamar

70 illusionist

Forsaken, lucan

Appreciate the feedback alot. So far i am quite enjoying the class, which to be honest suprised me alot. Nice to get feedback from those who play the class though : )I look forward to trying the /pet ranged command (did not know of that one. My personae likes to run upand tickle the mobs)

I regularly box an illusionist with a fury, and it is an awesome combination (for 2-boxing). For 95% of encounters, mobs are dead after the illusionist and fury have casted their first round of nukes. Level 30 is when illusionists become DPS machines.

Yes, as has been stated many times, illusionists are (1) Fun to play, (2) Do very good damage in groups and raids, (3) Incredible soloers, and (4) Have some excellent utility. Whats great is that we are an underplayed class so we retain a lot of uniqueness. Guilds are glad to have us for raids so you shouldn't have a problem with the guild invites. If you want to group, there will be many people that will beg you for groups.
