OK I have been gone from Norrath since many many moons (May 2006) and I logged back in last weekend and sorted my two lower level chars out with new hotbars etc and practised the seemingly changed (it might be my memory) abilities.

My main was my guardian - he is lvl 33 and I was wondering if any of you guys could give me advice as to any changes that might have effected the gameplay of the guardian.

Links to useful guardian info also appreciated.

Many Thanks

I don't specifically recall everything that has happened since May 2006.

But, I think the major things are that EoF was released as the most recent expansion in Nov 2006. It added 50 more AAs and provided a ton of more areas to explore and adventure in from Level 1-70.

When EoF was released, the game underwent another combat update. You shouldn't see it much at your level but it becomes more pronounced at higher levels.

Our KoS AAs were tweaked, some nerfed, some improved.

Mastercrafted gear may have been nerfed in that time, I don't recall. But, mastercrafted gear is no longer legendary.

AAs are no longer on a constant scale. So, the earlier AAs require less xp than the later ones.

Here's a decent site with tons of reference material for the game in general, but I linked the guardian info for ya.

http://eq2.wikia.com/wiki/Guardian

Thanks for that link - looks good.

Me too - no AA's in the game when I left - guessing they are similar to EQ1 aa's ??

There were AAs in May 2006. KoS had already been released then.

But, yes. Similar to EQ1 AAs. You have 50 for your class (KoS) and 50 for your subclass(from EoF).

So you would have 50 warrior AAs and 50 guardians AAs at max. Each of them has pre-reqs though but it's all spelled out in a decent UI unlike EQ1 which was just a big listing by expansion.

And the next expansion is (supposedly) not increasing that number so you have plenty of time to catch up.

Hmm maybe i been gone longer than i thought.

Well OK I am getting back into this and enjoying my guardian in a new zone to me (EL). I currently solo or duo with a mystic, but basically play as solo as the mystic lets me get agro proper before joining in. Anyway I am about to hit level 34 and a couple more questions spring to mind.

1) AOE agro seems a problem - I seem to remember 'Hold the line' ?? where I was rooted but each time a mob hit me there was a chance they were (taunted/added hate) agro'd. The other thing I remember is a very low level shout AOE taunt - is there an upgrade of this at my level.

(Soz I have hovered my cursor over my CA's for what seems like eternity when I am itching to play)

2) If anyone has the time and energy - what would your 12 hotkeys be for solo and group scenarios at lvl 34.

Much appreciation to any help

They removed the root and now it's a permanent buff series that stays up all the time and you get upgrades every 14 levels or so. I think your most recent version would be Goading Defense from level 29.

There is no true AE taunt. You get a couple of group/encounter taunts though. Sort your knowledge book by Type and look for the green icons. For you that's Shouting Cry(lvl 22). You'll get the upgrade at 36 and another series of encounter taunts later.

Also, don't forget your Level 20 Goading Gesture from the Splitpaw AP. It is roughly equal to your single target taunt but it has a small chance to double the taunt value.

Yumena wrote:

2) If anyone has the time and energy - what would your 12 hotkeys be for solo and group scenarios at lvl 34.

Can't help you there, the game has gone through several combat revamps since I was that level. I will say that at high level, I have 72 hotkeys on my screen at all times.
