Good question... I'd like to know, too.

<p>I can say for sure they won't be in GU39.  They're still hanging around though and might pop up in the future when they can be implemented fully.  We just weren't happy with how they turned out before, which is why they got pulled.</p><p> - K</p>

<p>I don't play a bard character, but it would be nice to see special useable instruments implemented.  These things  can only be used by bards like the tinkered items only useable by tinkerers.  There are regular and legendary versions with regular having 5-7 charges with each one conveying differen't/unique buffs.  Legendary ones would have 12-15 charges enhancings spells by 1-4%.  </p><p>Be sweet to have a Troubador whip out his guitar and restore 2-4% mana to the group after a mob power drains everyone.  </p>

It was too bad when they removed even the non-functioning recipes from woodworkers, cause it was neat for my troub to at least be able to carry the tools of her trade around.

<p><span style="color: #00cc00;">I say bring them back, but get rid of the root, allow preset music to be played and let the bard classes compose with them. Bits here bits there that give certain microbuffs or micro de-buffs. </span></p><p><span style="color: #00cc00;">That way being a good bard takes skill and a good macro. <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY<img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />" width="15" height="15" /></span></p><p><span style="color: #00cc00;">Edited for reading in English rather then too tired to type strait.</span></p>

<p>If these insturments are implemented and all they do is sit in your inn room, I'm going to be really unhappy with it. Them being used by bards would be pretty cool, or even if SOE took the LOTR:O approach and made them... actual insturments that you can play. What exactly was the aim for what the insturments were supposed to do?</p>

Well, it could be implemented in 2 stages or more...1st stage: - Graphical aspects, to be able to display it in house and/or wield it- To have it play some preste music when used2nd Stage:- Give it some practical use for bards2nd stage bis:- Give some freedom of creative music.I loved the way how AC2 player music worked. The game was otherwise crappy in many areas, but SoE could do worse than hiring the guy that was responsible for it <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />(Players could use al sorts of instrument, chose a numbered music, not everyone the same, and the mix of the players music usualy ended up sounding nice. Very very cool for social gatherings)

<p>haven't played lotr myself and played swg for a long time but what i have seen so far from lotr makes swg look inferior(regarding music).</p>

Instead of root, drop all speed enhancements.

I tried out LOTRO during the SOE acct maintenance shutdown the other day and made their bard version. The thing I didn't like was the switch from weapon to instrument during combat. The speed of the swap out and space for the musical snippet to complete made it very distracting and clunky feeling. If we ever get this I hope it's a lot more integrated into the flow of combat. Maybe have a ranged vs hand-to-hand swap, plugging in the instruments in place of the bow would be a good fix. This way you could have a class of ranged spells that would be logically used in sequence (extending the musical segments) vs a class of close combat spells used without instruments. Possibly 30 second rooted type things that are appropriate for ranged assaults, buffs or debuffs? Also have the musical segment match the purpose, such as driving speed ups, sonic assaults, soothing mezzes etc. Another option might be a kind of stance-based scenario, one for instruments and the other for straight combat. This could really add to the over all experience IMHO.

<span style="color: #00cc00;">Not to mention that one of the songs they used to <b><i>twist</i></b> was a land speed buff on par with SoW.</span>
