<div>Hello,</div><div>I've been looking around quite a bit in this forum and with the "search" button, but didn't find this problem addressed anywhere yet.</div><div>I recently installed Vista on a new HDD and now when I want to start EQ2, it always crashes at the exact same point. I can log in normally, even get to the character select screen, seeing everything just fine there. All my characters are displayed correctly, but when I select one of them (tried more than one of them), the launcher crashes when trying to receive zone informations.</div><div>Here's a screenshot of the error that occurs:</div><div>http://i215.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/KingRalphI/th_ErrorScreenshot.jpg (http://i215.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/KingRalphI/ErrorScreenshot.jpg) </div><div>If you need more detailed informations, I have them ready, just didn't want to make this post extraordinarily long <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY<img src=" width="15" height="15" />" width="15" height="15"></div><div>Thanks for any answers that could help me solve this issue.</div><div>Bala</div><div>PS:</div><div>------------------<b><span style="font-size: medium;">System Information</span></b>------------------Time of this report: 9/26/2007, 17:56:29       Machine name: JOKER   Operating System: Windows VistaTM Ultimate (6.0, Build 6000) (6000.vista_rtm.061101-2205)           Language: German (Regional Setting: German)System Manufacturer: ASUSTEK COMPUTER INC       System Model: P5W DH Deluxe               BIOS: BIOS Date: 07/24/07 22:51:18 Ver: 08.00.12          Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU     E6750  @ 2.66GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.7GHz             Memory: 2046MB RAM          Page File: 875MB used, 3454MB available        Windows Dir: C:Windows    DirectX Version: DirectX 10DX Setup Parameters: Not found     DxDiag Version: 6.00.6000.16386 32bit Unicode</div><div>-----------------------------------------------------</div><div><span style="font-size: medium;"><b>crashlog.txt:</b></span></div><div>build="SOEBuild=4400L" version="SOEVersionString=2007/9/24 10:16:53" build_type="USER OPTIMIZED" ls_address="none" zone="adv04_dun_endless" loc="  9.27   6.93 -19.73" performance="7" stack="00b478f2 0078e0f9 007856ae 00785db8 00782738 0077f4d5 004c580f 1dc7c5e0 004b5960 ffffbb88 "</div><div>-----------------------------------------------------</div><div><b><span style="font-size: medium;">EQ2_crash.txt:</span></b></div><div>SOEBuild=4400LSOEVersionString=2007/9/24 10:16:53   EVERQUEST2 CRASH LOG   ================================================== ================================================Un handled exception EXCEPTION_STACK_OVERFLOW at 0x00B478F2   Game Data:    SOEBuild: SOEBuild=4400L SOEVersionString: SOEVersionString=2007/9/24 10:16:53 Time at crash: Wed Sep 26 18:30:47 2007 Login Server: none Performance: 7 Game Uptime: 34 seconds Game Was Shutting Down: false Position last frame: 9.27, 6.93, -19.73 Zone name: adv04_dun_endless Time in Zone: 2 seconds Previous Zone name: GameScene::ZR_NETWORKED_ZONE_CHANGE   Thread Data:    Primary Thread Id: 2032 Current Thread Id: 2032 Current Thread Priority: 0   Memory:    Load:           58% Total physical: 2145910784 Free  physical: 880697344 Total pagefile: 4294967295 Free  pagefile: 3032264704 Total virtual:  2147352576 Free  virtual:  1470742528   Memory Manager:    Allocations:                  130113 Bytes Allocated:              203378032 Max Allocations:              136521 Max Bytes Allocated:          262634176 System Memory Allocated (MB): 256 Limit:                        1534 Number of Allocate Calls:     220174 Number of Free Calls:         90061   Registers:           EAX 0x000355FC        EBX 0x00032EE0        ECX 0x030AE4C4        EDX 0x00000000        ESI 0x0343B6D0        EDI 0x19F1EE40         GS 0x00000000         FS 0x0000003B         ES 0x00000023         DS 0x00000023        EBP 0xE8F18B56        ESP 0xE8F18B5E        EIP 0x00000000      FLAGS 0x00010202         CS 0x0000001B         SS 0x00000023   FPU Registers:            CW 0xFFFF027F         SW 0xFFFF0120         TW 0xFFFFFFFF   FPU Rounding Mode: Nearest   Call Stack:    0x00000000 in ????????End of Call Stack   Stack Scan:    0xE8F18B5E: Invalid stack data: Can't be readEnd of Stack Scan   Copy of platformstats.txt   END OF LOG</div>

<p>Need to see more information from the dxdiag. can you add the rest of it?</p><p>try this if you have not already</p><p>keep in mind that this helps the MAJORITY of the people, but it may not help everyone with vista.first, locate the following files.LP_plugin.exeEQ2.exeEverQuest2.exethen for each one, right click them and then choose properties. from there you should see a button to "run as administrator" or something similar, i am not at my vista machine, so i cant remember exactly. in that window, look down it, and a little ways down, you will see a checkbox that does the same thing, but when checked, it runs each time the app is run and does not require you to do it each time it is run. also, there is a checkbox for the compatibility options. check that checkbox, and then make sure it is set to windows xp SP2 in the drop down just underneath it. it defaults to xp SP2, but i am just covering all the bases. then, if there is a button at the bottom of the window that says "apply" click it, then click ok. if there is no "apply" button, then just click ok. now, when you run from the shortcut on the desktop, you do not need to set it to run as admin every time you start it, and you should not have the LP_plugin error any longer either.also, it is a good idea to right click the station and EQ2 folders under sony in Program Files, and make sure the folder permissions for read-only is not checked. this will allow the patcher and the launcher to write patches to the folders if patches need to be done. </p>

<div>Thank you for the fast reply! Well, I already was a step ahead of you and did the steps you suggested, cause I found them on other topics as well. Unfortunately that didn't solve it for me.</div><div>I also checked to see if the folder (and sub folders) are read-only, so that can't be it either.</div><div>So here's some more of the dxdiag, if you need to know more, let me know please:</div><div><b><span style="font-size: medium;">dxdiag.txt:</span></b></div><div>------------DxDiag Notes------------      Display Tab 1: No problems
