Tell me if I am wrong to say that HALF of our spells are a waste of time whether raid, grp or solo. All those power drains and low damage slow dots and superbly hard to proc damage procs are TOTALLY USELESS.
Illusionists are way way better than coercers whether its mezzing , DPS , buff or AA.Their single target DD has higher damage. They have 2 extra mez (one is a unresistable short duration mez if i am not wrong). Snergy for hate reduction is 100 times more useful than what we have. Eof End Line AA illusionist win hands down while coercer again get NOTHING useful other than the thoughtsnap whic h is nothing great. Not to mention the permanent pets that illu get while 95% of the mobs in raid zones cannot be charmed and the charmable ones run back to spawn point when charm breaks!
Is there any point in staying coercer? Betrayal the only option?

I tried both Illy and Coercer. I stuck with my Coercer because I genuinely enjoy playing her. She shines more in a group than solo, but if the group doesn't understand what she can do much of her efforts can be wasted. It seems many folks see a robe and just assume you're there for DPS only. /shrug

From your post I would say that you personally don't see much appealing about Coercers so in your case it may be best to betray to Illy or reroll. There's no need to torment yourself with something you don't enjoy. After all, this is a game.

I felt the same as you and betrayed. I'm much happier now.

This is extremely dependant on how you view your role as a coercer, tbh, if you intend to be dps, then rolling an Illu instead is the better option, to me, the Coercers role is mainly to be a utility class, and , if you are happy with playing that, then stay with the coercer. Specced down the Agi and Sta line, I give a heck of a lot to the MT group and any other group I am placed in. I know that a lot of Coercers are aimed at DPS and that is their choice too. I respect the differing opinions and am happy with the way my Coercer is specced and played. It is all personal choice, and that is one of the good things about this game, it allows you to choose what you, personally, wish to be. There is no `right` or `wrong` way to play, it is all a matter of opinion.

I think you are coming off as really jaded to the coercer class. I started mine because in eq1 i played a coercer and to be honest, it is a class that not just anyone can and or will play. They are great at what they do, and that is utility. If you wanted high end dps you should have rolled a wizard or a warlock. The fact is our AA's are designed to be more useful in a maintank/off tank setting, not in a solo setting. One, i would not have taken thought snap, dont get me wrong it is a great spell for the ot group, but as it stands, there will be more utility off of the manaward. The fact is out AA's play really well for a dps spec, one the coercive healing line is where all of our reactive damage spells are increased in duration and trigger ammounts, two when you go for mana ward, you will increase your power replenishment when you are chain casting. Finally where it all comes together, witht agi/int spec you can hold your power below 30% without running out and keep your cycle up. Thought snap is a crutch and to be honest most of the people who play coercers play them because they are an extreamly challenging and fun class to play. Well with that i am back to work, best wishes, and happy hunting.

I started my EQ2 life as a Warlock, then went to a Templar. A friend got me into a great raiding guild on GUK and I rolled a Coercer since that's what they needed. I also have a 70 Monk and Guardian that have never been raid mains.

For me, the Coecer has been an awesome toon to play. It took a long time to play well (read over one month) but once played right it's just as useful/necessary as any other class. I regularly pull down 1300 or so DPS while in the MT grp in EH, and was parsing in a pickup raid in Labs the other night hovering right around 2k zone wide.

I love it, sure there can be improvements but there can be improvements for every class.

My .02

I love my croakercer, but I do agree that a lot of our spells are beyond weak. Power drains don't affect mobs, and never will. Giving us two exclusive sets of tools.... (stun and reactives). Even with that said, I stand by my enjoyment of this toon and will continue to play him into RoK. No class is perfect. No class aligns with everyone's preconceptions of what they should be.Some Dev love would NOT go unappreciated. Hell, the way things have been going, even Dev Notice would be nice
