just came back to EQ2 after a lay off since April.. Re-loaded the discs, paid my subs ..after waiting ages for that massive maintenance on Tuesday 25 sept... ok so now I try to ge in..I hit the desktop Icon then press the buttons.. the patcher/downloader does the analyze whatever the the download commences ...it goes as far as (well less than an hour remaining) and then the download cancells. the file or whatever says char_mounts.vpk_delta... its then says download cancelled.. anyone any ideas. I tried re-starting PC..I tried shutting off firewallsa nd virus stuff..nothing same download cancelled. I even un-installed and re-installed it still cancels download at the very same point. Please anyone any ideas

You wouldnt by chance be running on Vista now would you? Though given you could download some of it, probably not, but its worth asking.

If so, you need to run EQ2 as an administrator.

I was using the european side English(UK)...something said to me to try the English(USA)...its worked all up and running, and I have gone back to my English (UK) no problems, this says to me that there is in fact a downloader problem on the English(UK) system...so if any Dev's/GM's/admins or whatever are reading this can I suggest you maybe investigate this please.

Having the same problem!! On the same file aswell (Char_mounts.vpk_delta4) and i also tried to download it manually from http://amsrrpatch.everquest2.com:70...elta_4.gz but it says the file is corrupted <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> i want to get in to play....This is what my EverQuest2Patch says:[22:55:44] Patcher: Downloading Char_mounts.vpk [dloadsize=9450109; totalsize=9450109; crc=192445865][22:57:19] Patcher: PatcherZipper error(44,0,-3): (null)[22:57:19] Patcher: DownloadFileEx failed (44) on url=http://amsrrpatch.everquest2.com:7010/patch/eq2/en_EU/patch1/main/paks/Char_mounts.vpk_delta_4.gz[22:57:19] Patcher: Error with partial patch, cancelling immediately. File: Char_mounts.vpkHELP PLZ! just bought the game and wanna get in <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />and btw im using Windows XP not Vista.
I was also having the same problem. I was in the middle of downloading the game when the LU started and I think that may have caused the problem. I began searchin through the .vpk files that i know were being downloaded at the timw. I found a lp_temp_char_monsters4.vpk file. I deleted this file and restarted the patcher. Everything is now downloading as normal. I'll update later if I get to play sometime tomorrow. Zedd

I am now having the exact same problem. I deleted the tmp file that was giving it issues, but restarting the patcher did not help. It just downloaded that file again.

I am going to try patching US and see if that helps. Hopefully it won't give me issues when I try to play on the EU server.

*edit* Oh yes, I am running XP as well.

Having same problem or not really but I get the whole patch downloaded but when I'm starting the game and was gonna do a fae it was no character there! Just empy air I can run around with it and everything but can't see it same for frogloks, wood elfs and some on the bad side too. So maybe it's problem with the uk downloader and wonder how do I chance to the usa downloader?

i also had this problem - it doesn't seem to be a windows vista thing more problems with GU38 with the mount changes as it only occurs with file char_mounts

all i did was delete this file and all worked fine again

Ok, I installed the EoF disks and the patcher will run through the full file scan fine. However, when it starts the download, the first file it checks is the "eq_keymap_other.ini" file. The download cancels immediately. I deleted the file completely from my system in hopes it would re-download it during the scan. As expected, it downloaded the file and again the whole process was cancelled just after the scan. No matter how many files I delete, the same thing happens.

I have both the eq2.exe and everquest2.exe set to run as Admin since I'm on vista. I also have it running in XP SP2 compatibility mode. I also turned off my virus scan, spyware scan and windows firewall.

I can't connect to the server at all. If I run everquest2.exe and I get to the login screen, a popup box appears that says it can't connect to the login server.

Any ideas???? This is rather irksome since I installed Vanguard one time and I have had no issue with that game whatsoever.

Thank you!

I'm having the exact same issue. Download cancels after the keymap file.

Ah, well. I'll try again tomorrow night.

Now I have it to a point where the patcher says "Update Complete" but the "Updating" button greys out instead of changing to "Play."

If I click the "Download" link, the patcher says "Download: icon_me2.dde" and then it flashes up "Decompress: icon_me2.dde"

It does nothing beyond this. If I try to connect to the Chat server the system says that it can't connect. If I run "everquest2.exe" I can get to the login screen, but again the system can't connect to the login server.

I turned my firewall, spyware software and virus scan software off and there has been no change..even after several reboots.

I'm on Vista Premium Home edition. I also have both "eq2.exe" and "everquest2.exe" set to run as admin and compatible on XP SP2.

Same deal as earlier...Update Complete but no Play button...it's grayed out.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. It makes no sense that I can play other Sony products without issue. It just sucks that I paid $40 for this game and I can't play it due to some patcher issue. I can't return it either for that matter.

I don't know whether they fixed something this afternoon or whether my turning of UAC affected it, but I SEEM to be downloading the updates properly now..,

I'll post in the morning either way.

Same deal as above. Nothing works at all. The patcher just sits at "Update Complete" only it's not complete.

I should probably just give up on this. I don't get it. I have no issues with Vanguard or Pirates of the Burning Sea.
