Hi, I recently uninstalled McAfee and installed Trend Micro to replace it. I'm now encountering a lot of crashes which have never occured before. Here is what's happening:First crash:(Graphics on Very High Performance)In EFP, was tradeskilling, then running around with my warg outside: EQ2 Has detected an unrecoverable error. <verify>C:/live/eq2/framework/core/devices/src/ ..... Directx Error. (E_outofmemory)Second Crash:(graphics on balanced)On an alt, in South QeynosUI disappears, crashes to desktopThird Crash:On the same alt, graphics reduced to Very High PerformanceUI disappears, crashes to desktop, BSOD!!! (never happens on this machine!)Problem for the BSOD relates to file nv4_disp.dll ...Here's the graphics card info:nVIDIA GeForce 6800 Driver version 7.7.7.4Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Just tried that and relogged. Here's the error I got on this other crash to add to the slew:In QH, graphics again on Very High Performance: <verify>C:/live/eq2/framework/core/devices/src/.../DirectX9RemoteDevice.cpp Directx Error. (E_outofmemory)Also, before disabling Trend Micro I changed the virus scan to ignore the Sony file./sigh, so I'm a comp science major and I would guess Trend Micro is possible allocating memory on startup. Is it releasing it on exit? Mem leak, possibly?

I have Trend Micro Internet Security 2007 as well. While it uses a significant amount of memory at startup especially when running an active scan for virus and spyware it doesn't appear to have a memory leak. The memory leak is Everquest II, many people are experiencing similar problems with many different computer specifications and anti-viral programs. Also the memory leaks appears to exist mainly in specific zones. For example: I can run around in Antonica for 2-3 hours with no problems (probably longer but I haven't tested it for longer periods of time) but when I enter Blackburrow, The Isles of Refuge (both), Crypt of Betrayal or Ruins of Varsoon, it crashes frequently after 30-45 minutes.I have noticed that I can increase the time before the error presents itself, by lower the various settings in the Particle Effects options menu, particularly the Particle Effects Quality box, which I set from High to Average. I assume the Very High Performance sets this option to Average but it might be worth checking. Also try manually tweaking your graphically settings making sure specular lighting , bloom, atmospheric bloom, shadows, animation distance, and complex shaders distance and other graphical settings are on the low side (for testing purposes.) If you gain more time before the error you can safety say one of those settings is at least partially responsible for the error. Re-enable each setting one-by-one noticing the amount of time it takes to crash. Note: You will have to exit Everquest II after each feature is re-enable to ensure that a specific graphical feature is responsible. It might be helpful to note your Page File usage during and after running Everquest II to isolate when the memory leak is occurring. (I noticed a significant change (increase) in Page File when entering specific zones.)I would be interested in what four-digit number is present in the error message. I regularly get a value of 2175 or 1997 when the error occurs. There is a sticky message in the Support Forums showing other people have similar problems with Everquest II and an E_OUTOFMEMORY error.Edit: I have noticed similar problems with various parts of the User Interface disappears and that was almost completely remedied by lower the Particle Effects Quality and Distance. I figured Particle Effects were cause this because the UI would disappear seconds after finishing a HO with a large graphic. The anomalies were isolated to the Journal, Inventory, and Hotbars though. If you are experiencing complete UI problems there might be additional reasons.

It is compatibly, you may want to enter the eq2 directory in the exception list for the real time scanner to reduce AV scanning lag.

As far as the crash goes, would guess that it is cause by the fact you are running an ancient driver for yourt card - 77.74, the current recommended driver for the 6800 is 94.24 for XP/2000. I use AVG the free antivirus program. I don't even have to disable it when playing EQ2. Works fine and is not a resource hog.

I just wanted to follow up on this. Do NOT use Trend Micro with EQ2. After uninstalling it, everything went back to normal.
