What graphics card do you own? Have you tried different drivers for your graphic card?

Sounds like what you are seeing is artifacting from a heating problem; possibly a bad fan. Pop the panel off your CPU and run it for a while (naturally when no one is around to jab a screwdriver into your moobo) and see if that helps. After playing a while, look in and see if the fan is running....or making odd noises maybe. If it doesn't crash, or after playing an hour or two, the fan (if it has one) doesn't kick on, then you know its a cooling issue. Consider buying a PCI slot fan or review where the CPU is sitting. If it still artifacts and crashes with the fan running and the case open...it might already be too damaged. The restarts could be from a process built into most systems nowadays where the system will coldreboot when it overheats.

i tried what you said and it still does it, could this be the result of a low system battery?

ive been getting a alert that my system battery is low, but havent got a chance to run out and buy one.

Battery is low? Are you using a laptop? O_OUsually when you see lines in the graphics it's either an heat issue like he said or your video card dying.

He's most likely referring to either a low battery pop-up indicator for the laptop battery or the wireless keyboard/mouse indicator. I don't think it has anything to do with the issue at hand. An adequate supply of power for the video card could cause this as-well-as over-heating. Take a can-of-air and blow off the built-up dust on the video card fan of the desktop computer or the vent holes on the notebook computer.
