What's the point of Summon: Food and Water?

It just seems like a completely gimped piece of junk that takes the place of a real spell you would otherwise gain at the appropriate level.The food and water summoned seems to absolutely suck.  I could understand it not being as good as high end crafted stuff, but it seems (after a bit of experiment) to be worse than the stuff you can buy cheaply from NPC vendors everywhere.  Am I missing something?

This spell was useful when EQ2 was first released. It is no longer useful at any level

its probabbly so if people run out of food and drink and cannot return to a city and nobody has food/drink to spare, they can at least get some benefit... some is better than none.

It is completely ridiculous, what is it like 5 regen? I guess some is better then none but that practically is none, it's kind of a joke even at low levels..=(Wish they would make it at least close to vendor bought food and have it scale with your level so at least it will be useful if and when you do run out of food and drink while you're out..

Back in the day the point was to fill up your groupmates bags with the crap so that they couldn't win lotto on chests!

I recall back in the day it was viable as a backup for low power usage chars, that was about it.  It wasn't nearly as good as the store-bought (and not even in the same class as player made), but back then it wasn't embarrassing if ya ran out and someone summoned some for ya.I haven't summoned any in a very very long time though, probably not since before level 20, lol.Nowadays it's a forgotten spell somewhere in my book, haven't even seen the icon in so long I barely remember what it looks like, ha!

Try getting a few priests together casting it on your raid leader throughout raids... and then he'll wonder why he can't loot the masters =P

i use it to annoy those who annoy me .. infact we set up a healer channel to pick our targets for the raid .. jumpers/annoyances get food/water constantly cast on them by about 4-8 healers.. It takes up screen real-estate and forces them to do somethign about it ..other than that its pretty useless now .. when the game first started and no one had any money it helped a bit ..
