Before I formatted my drive and put Windows XP 64bit I took my Sony folder and copied it to a external hard drive. After I installed windows and all of my drivers I copied the Sony folder in my C:/Program Files (x86) and when I ran the EQ2 Launcher from inside my c drive it still downloads the files from launchpad to my desktop.

Now I have downloaded eq2 EoF DVDs to my computer, how do I get the updated files that I have on my external drive to work with the Sony folder created by installing DVDs, that way I can avoid running a big tedious patch?

Any help?

ok just to be perfectly safe here, first uninstall EQ2 from your machine using add/remove programs in the control panel. then, go into your program folder on your main system drive (if that is where you installed the game to), and go into the sony folder. you should see several folders there, one is labeled EQ2 or something similar. delete that folder.

now that EQ2 is completely off your system, start reinstalling the game from the DVDs. once that is complete, do NOT run the game. first, copy your EQ2 folder from yoru backup drive to where you installed EQ2 from the dvds, overwrighting all files as you go along. once that is complete, you can go ahead and start the game. you might have some minimal patching to do still, but not alot. that is, provided you backed up your EQ2 folder like the day before or same day you decided to reformat your drive, so you have the absolute latest client files you could have had.

you should have a working EQ2 client now, with minimal patching before actual gameplay.

if this does not work for you, then we will have to look at other issues.
