I know I should go to the class forum but it's a bit too in depth for me. I like to keep things nice and simple so there is no confusion.

I've decided to start leveling my warden up a bit, in fact I have restarted her at Queens Colony. I don't like crafting in Faydark, too much running about.

Anyway, what I would like to know is which type of weapon is best for wardens and what in secondary slot if any.

Am I right in saying that wardens can only wear leather armour and if so waxed leather would be best for her.

Take into consideration that she is only lvl 6 and on starter island. Before anyone says it's not worth doing much at that lvl, I like to give all my chars the very best. She will be halting xp at lvl 9 for a while so she can notch up the kills (and collect all those nice adepts that the transmutters like so much).

I have never really found a 'best' weapon for a Warden to use. You can use crushing and slashing weapons. I usually stick to one handers, so I can equip a high wisdom buckler or symbol in my off hand. I personally love the look of my girl running around with a sword on her hip. Hehe. But currently she is using a glowy mace (Black Obsenity from Ghazi) and the spine of some creature in her off hand (Vertabrack from Unrest.)

I have rarely found cloth armor (besides what I have her wear for Appearance reasons only) that had the wisdom, intelligence and agility modifiers all together. So, yes, you will want to use mastercrafted rare leather until you can get your hands on legendary and fabled gear.

>which type of weapon is best for wardens and what in secondary slot if anyIt doesn't really matter as long as the weapon has the stats you're trying to spec for. The secondary slot should have something equally staty. If you're going for the melee warden then you should also consider damage in relation to other weapons of equal speed, and get it imbued with something like gleaming strike.>Am I right in saying that wardens can only wear leather armour and if so waxed leather would be best for her.Wardens can wear up to and including leather, which means you can also wear cloth. As for what to pick, choose the pieces that have the look and stats you're going for.

From 1-9, every little bit of hurt helps. I'd go for a two-hander. The T1 rare crafted staff is nice (if dull), but there are a few staves usable at level 7 or 8 (I forget) which are just fantastic.

Thank you all for your responses.

I've got to lvl 9 and have now locked xp.

I ended up getting a load of gear off the broker. I got tanned leather armour ( the black and silver gear), with various different stats on. I've ended up with these stats:

Health 225, Power 351, Attack 119, Mitigation 388, Avoidance 607

Str 33, Ag 46, Sta 39, Int 34, Wis 64

All the others, heat, cold, poison etc. all range between 130-180

I've decided to go with sword and shield at the moment, but will probably get a stave as well at some stage to push crushing up.

I've got 'Spidersplitter' dmg 2-7, +5 str, +5 health, and I've put a 'Flickering Vampiric Handle' on it.

Now a question on shields, I've got 2 to choose from.

'Shin 'Ree Shield' +1 str, +2 sta, +1 wis, protection 104

'Old Wooden Shield' +2 sta, +5 health, +5 power, +75 magic, protection 48

I like the look of the Old Wooden but am favouring the Shin 'Ree for higher protection. This leads me to my next question. What is the relationship between protection and mitigation, or are they two entirely different things?
