Well I was going to post this in the other topic but the OP deleted his message.

I found this freeware program at : http://images.tomshardware.com/20.../taskassign.zip

It allows you to set your programs to use either core or both.

The program has to stay running while you are playing and the crappy thing is it can not be minimized.

Here is a link to the article itself

http://www.tomshardware.com/2004/05...rocessing_buck/

i do not think that this tool will bring much performance to eq2 , as this tool optimizes how the systems handles different instances / processe .. but as EQ2 is only on thread you will get not much out of it , as discussed already in 2 other threads today Sony needs to optimze EQ2 internally to support mutli cores / cpus ...

just my 2 cent

actually i have seen a big increase while running this. I have my eq2.exe set to run on my second core and everything else to core 1

you dont even need this tool to do this.

assuming you run win xp and have the game already up and running, open up the task manager (cntrl+alt+del by default) and then go to the process tab. from there right click EQ2, and then choose set affinity. in that window, check core 1 and then DESELECT core 0. EQ2 will now run on the second core. by default, all the normal windows overhead defaults to core 0, so not only are you running EQ2 on core 0 by default, so is windows and everything else.

why introduce more system overhead if you dont have to???

With this program you can create profiles in it. And when you start a program it will automatically set that program to that core.

So you dont have to mess with CAD all the time. Very helpful if you are like me and run to instances of everquest on the same PC.

you do not have some numbers to back you up or ?

like installing fraps (showing frames per second) and taking a look at the frames under both circumstances with different settings ? (one with the tool , one without)
