Ok, sorry if this is the wrong place, but I really couldn't figure out a better place (I blame the lack of coffee, personally)... ok, this is whats going on.My PC specs:AMD X2 3800+1GB OCZ Gold PC2 6400GeForce 7900 256MB Now, the game absolutely screams, until I zone into Neriak, then I'm lucky if i can make it from Darklight zone border to the bank in 10-15 minutes.I zone out of Neriak, i'm fine again. I log out, reboot, ect log straight in to Neriak, and I'm hosed, until I leave Neriak.Any idea why this town hates me so much?

You're not the only one, Neriak is awfully laggy even on my newish pc.

The biggest issue is probably caused by you only having 1gb of RAM, though to be honest Neriak is still laggy with my 2GB as well. If you watch the task manager on your pc when you leave Neriak youll see a huge drop in memory usage, basically Neriak is a big fat memory leak. Hopefully this issue will be fixed at some point, until then I try not to visit Neriak often.

Yeah I was afraid you were going to say that. As a new player, i did the "defect" to freeport quest, but couldn't afford the gold *snicker*.oh well, maybe it will get better.

Try using the custom display settings options to save a low-quality version to your settings (you'll want to set to minimum the complex shaders, particle effects, model detail, and rendering distance) ... before you zone in to Neriak, load that ... game will look like poop while you are in the city ... but it will run much more smoothly. When you get back out, just load your normal settings.

I suggest getting 2GB of ram. I had less then one before, and neriak was extremely laggy, now that I have 2, I get no lag anywhere (nor do I get the memory crash anymore).

I also recommend 2gb+ of memory. Eq2 will use Up To 1.7gb of ram in worst case scensario. So if you have 1gb of ram you are limited from the get go. Even with 2gb it really can't use full 1.7gb properly since that leaves only 300mb left for Windows etc. Friend of mine went from 2gb to 4gb and he said all the lag he had in QH etc all but dissapeared.

1gb will get you by, 2gb much better and 4gb ideal especially if you have vista that way you have the 1.7gb available for eq2 if it needs/wants it and you have basically another 2gb for windows or whatever programs you have running in the background (ACT, Ventrilo etc)
