OK here's the deal.

I recently bought a second PC and hooked it up via a router to my internet.

However it's very very difficult to connect both PC's on EQ2, each time i try to connect i get thrown back to character screen select. Eventually after much trying I got em both running but took me an hour to connect. And then I couldn't even see my toon on the other PC, it was just invisible.

Is this a network problem or what?

My first pc is a P 4 dual core 4giga and Nvidea 8800GTS running on WIN XP, it runs EQ2 smoothly. My internet connection is via ADSL fast connection 500KB/sec. The second PC is a P4 dual core with Nvidea 7900 and VISTA.

you have 2 accounts for EQ 2 or ? If not well than you have found the source of the problem.

If you have 2 accounts in EQ2 , than i would say your router is not natting correct and mixing up the ports.

what kind of router to do you have ?

Is the router creating the connection to the internet or do you do it on the pc ? Normally you should just connect your cable or wlan and the pc should be able to browse the internet.

If you can connect to your router, make sure that NAT is enabled ... very hard to troubleshoot without more infos

I have a Dir 100 from the firm D-Link.

My "old" pc makes the connection to the internet and i just connected the second one on the router. The internet and downloads works fine on both, so that's no problem.

when you say our "old" pc makes the connection to the internet , do you mean he logins in to the provider and than you can use it ? it seems to me your router is only working as a switch and not like a router ... complicated.

best regards

Yep my old PC is connected to the modem and makes the primary connection. However that was what the installation guide of the router Dir-100 suggested. Network noob here sorry... and thanks for helping me

i just try to explain how i have it today

i have a xdsl line at home with 4mb down and 768kb up

on this line i have connected a router from netgear , on this router i have configured my xdsl setting (like username , password...) and therefore the connection to the internet is created by this router

the router has wlan and 4 plugs for network cables, so basically i just connect my pc / notebook to one of those slots and than the pc / notebook gets all the infos from the router.

when i want to go into the internet for www or eq2 , i just start internet explorer or eq2.exe and the router connects automatically to the internet

when i use multiple pcs for that , the router is also taking care that each eq2 sessione gets connected correctly

i fear you have a router , but you do not use it correctly and when you connect your second pc and start it there you disconnect the other internet connection or the router mixes things up, you should try to connect to your router with an internet explorer (most likely like this http://192.168.0.1 (take a look in the manual) and maybe you can call your provider and ask what you have to place in the different menus ...

i hope this helps

i would read the manual of the router and contact the ISP to help you with this , normally it should be not that hard as the ISP gets those questions many times a day !

That IP address is a private address that is NAT based and issued by a DHCP device such as your router.

Your router manual should tell you what private IP address to use in your browser in order to bring up the configuration page of that device.

What I don't understand is how i can connect my modem immediately to a router because it's a USB connection and none on my router, and why the hell can i sometimes connect and sometimes not, yesterday I could play with 2 accounts and today it was hard to log in...
