I'm somewhat new to the game.. bought it when it first came out, played it for a month or two... took a long break, played it again.. took another break... now I'm back for good.. no really I am. I'm playing a Mystic for the first time and I'm have some newb questions I was hoping folks could help me with.

1. What's more important, int or wisdom? Does a Mystic just use one of them or are they both important?

2. I really want my Mystic to be group friendly.. max out buffs, heals etc. I don't really care about doing any damage and I will be grouped pretty much all the time. What things improve buffs and healing? (Note that I'm an old DAOC player and always played support).

3. AA points, are there templates out there that can guide you on what you should pick? I imagine that a Mystic who wants to melee would have a much different AA selection than one that just wants to support the group... but I can't find any websites that tells you much. I have found sites that lists them all.. but I'm looking for something that says if you like grouping and raiding.. take this route..

4. I'm level 20, I got the bear form which is neat.. but in small spaces it's big but really gets in the way. Is there a way to be in bear form but keep your normal looking avatar?

5. In terms of equipment, it doesn't seem like anything worth a darn ever drops. I kind of figured in a game like this that drops would be very important to the game.. but my entire suit is player made, weapon player made etc. Are there sweet drops later in the game or is it all pretty much crafted stuff?

6. In terms of custom UIs, are there any Mystic specific, or is it pretty much the general ones?

7. I noticed with the my aoe buffs casted, I can cast aus spice on 2 other people then I'm maxed out. (I think we get a total of 5 or 6 spots).. In the later levels, do we ever get more spots that will allow us to cast more things or is that it?

8. Power managment, when I run out of power it looks like I can drink a potion to get a little boost.. but the ones at level 20 give you something like 15% of your bar.. is there any other ways to get power during a fight?.. or are you pretty much sheit out of luck when you run out?

I guess that's it, if you have some free time please respond. Thanks.

Int is for spell damage, wisdom for power pool. Wisdom is you most important stat as healer/support, but int will will help dps.As a heal focused mystic, I go strength/wisdom, and fill in the augmenting section of the mystic tree./hi (hide_illusions) will make bear form and any other forms hidden.you can also put a fun illusion(hawk form?) on before you cast bear form and it will override the bear form. Up to 50s seems like most folks I see get most their equipment off the brokers. Quest XP and treasured items will generally get you through the levels quickly. At higher levels start slow down, and get into level range that you find larger number of folks to group with, and can run instanced dungeons for legendary gear. Can run the instances for legendary gear at any level just seems most that don't have regular groups hold off till higher levels.I've heard good things about prophit UI for healers, but don't use anything more then eq2map add on.The 5 concentration buf slot usage has been about the same ages. 3 group bufs, hp/pow buf on self and on main tank.Find stilleto a rare rat that roams in thundering steps near a bridge between the gnolls and giants. He drops the starter for the manastone quest. Stilleto's orders. that manastone still on my hotbar at 70. For a while the mace from the quest started by agony in feerot is a boost to power too. Bah can't think of the name of it now. Later still you'll want the mystic specific hat that drops from last mob in court zone in barren sky (same island as PoA.) Hopefully someone else can fill you in on specific names of those items/quests.

Lot of questions - troll the board and you will find long answers to many of them so here are brief responses

1. Assuming you start to go down the melee aa line (like almost all mystics do) just focus on WIS then STR - WIS increases power and resists, STR increases your autoattack and melee attack damage

2. EoF aa lines help buffs, mostly spell quality increases wards/buffs/debuffs

3. There are long stickied posts on aa - look there as there a few choices depending on playstyle/level etc

4. You can hide your fat arsed bear form under the Persona Options tab... always cast it... never be it..!

5. Take what drops you can, otherwise you have to get by with player crafted - there is a lot of good drops of nameds etc but that is down to luck. Dungeons on average give better loot but less xp from mibs if i remeber correctly

6. Have a look on www.eq2interface.com - the group member cure buttons are a good minimum or try the fetish/profituis - they are down to personal taste. On 1 PC i raid full-time with the standard UI with cure buttons, the other PC has profitui. TBH profit bugs me a bit as it has too much info on it and you can't get rid of some windows

7. That's it - i seldom change buffs - avatar on tank, auspice on me and a mage/2nd healer

8. at level 20 you have few options, max your WIS so you have a large power pool. Potions are about it but it is unusual to run oom at level 20. First 'must have' item is manastone from quest drop in Thundering Steppes but you probably won't complete it until 30+

Back to work now....

There are raid mobs and some named as you come up through levels that drop stuff that can be better (depending on your class, achievement spec and what not). The standard treasured will most often be better than common crafted. When you're out solo'ing, you'll want to have a lot of INT so you can do more damage. When you're in a group, though, you'll probably be healing so WIS is what you'd want. Though, no matter what, I'd keep a heathy amount of WIS for your power pool.

2. I really want my Mystic to be group friendly.. max out buffs, heals etc. I don't really care about doing any damage and I will be grouped pretty much all the time. What things improve buffs and healing? (Note that I'm an old DAOC player and always played support).

There is an entire line of buff increases in the Mystic tree. They're actually very nice to have. If you want to help you buffs out, I would spend all your points going down this line, skipping Enhance:SOW. In the Shaman line, however, you can increase the haste and help with warding by going down the STR line (the most left line). People get frustrated with this line, however, because the spirit companion always dies. However, if you're smart about the fights, a great Mystic can keep the companion up.

Just a little advise though, the melee lines in both the Shaman (AGI line) and Mystic trees are awesome. Spending your points in these will allow you to take down most solo mobs with a steady amount of DPS and a healthy dose of wards. This combinations of lines is truely where the solo/group Mystic shines, IMO. Great things is, one you get 100 AA, you can do both buffing and damage lines.

Read anwer to 2), this is typically the ways Mystics spec. However, you can play around with different specifications. Other than the Rez line in the Mystic AA tree, any combination is viable.

4. I'm level 20, I got the bear form which is neat.. but in small spaces it's big but really gets in the way. Is there a way to be in bear form but keep your normal looking avatar?

Turn on "Hide My Illusion Form" in the peronality window (press P and go to the last tab).

5. In terms of equipment, it doesn't seem like anything worth a darn ever drops. I kind of figured in a game like this that drops would be very important to the game.. but my entire suit is player made, weapon player made etc. Are there sweet drops later in the game or is it all pretty much crafted stuff?

Actually, player made equipment is the best you can have for the most part this early in the game. Mastercrafted items are what I wore on my Defiler leveling up, mostly the damage and healing proc'd items. Other than that, it's just luck on what drops out of zones. Just look for items with WIS, STA, INT, and STR. Don't be afraid to were cloth or leather.

6. In terms of custom UIs, are there any Mystic specific, or is it pretty much the general ones?

Standard UI is definitely FTW in this game. You don't really need a whole bunch of extra crap cluttering up your screen. Besides, the UI in this game is very customizable in its standard form. I just suggest laying out your toolbars in a logical way and keeping a toolbar by your Group window with all of your cures. It's definitely a must to use your number keys as well as CRTL+NUM and ALT+NUM. You'll get used to it quickly.

7. I noticed with the my aoe buffs casted, I can cast aus spice on 2 other people then I'm maxed out. (I think we get a total of 5 or 6 spots).. In the later levels, do we ever get more spots that will allow us to cast more things or is that it?

Typically, I can cast my three group buffs and the single HP/Power buff on myself and one other person. I'm sure there's another Concentration buff you get. Again, I played a Defiler leveling up, only got to a Mystic at level 68.

8. Power managment, when I run out of power it looks like I can drink a potion to get a little boost.. but the ones at level 20 give you something like 15% of your bar.. is there any other ways to get power during a fight?.. or are you pretty much sheit out of luck when you run out?

Look up the item Manastone in EQ2wiki. There is a heritage quest that starts in your 30's that, though it takes a long time to do, you get a clicky item that restores some power at the cost of some health. I still use this item today. Other than that, you must rely on potions and other conjured items to get your power up. Power management is a problem at level 70, too.

I guess that's it, if you have some free time please respond. Thanks.
