Hi all! First post on Swash boards and I like the technical minds at work here! My compliments to you all.....

I am following the discussion concerning the dual wield changes but at the moment am only a 41 Swash specced down WIS line and working on Str. For many reasons I am going to stay with that spec on the journey to 70 cause, well, I like it (grin).

I just obtained the Rallosian Steel (and I must say I am quite dapper with my full suit of DFC chain and that wicked red and black blade!) but I want to start planning for the end of T5 and upwards through T7 (pre-raid).

Could anyone share their views of the best one handers in each Tier?

Many thanks!

Buckingham, 41 Swashbuckler of Lucan D'Lere and dead sexy!

There aren't many weapons w/ a 2.0 delay before about... late 50s, but even then they are pretty much the suck. I'm using mastercrafted until I can get the Lucanic weapon of my choice and Dark Linger for Pre-raid equipment.

P.S. Ancient Velium weapons are supposed to be really good and can be found on the broker.

there are some good t2 primary weapons that come to mind like lunar broadsword and others.

t3 has berik sword of thunder and PVP swords as well as a couple fableds that are hard enough to get i wont mention them.

t4 has forgotten blade of the ancients, faidiths longsword, rancid meat cleaver, ghoulbane, and stonepine blade

t5 the only weapons worth getting are Klak'Anon Damascus Steel Blade or Prismatic Longsword of the Scale maybe a fabled if you can find one (good luck).

t6 there are some good fableds if you can find them, otherwise use damascus or prismatic untill you can use scalesplitter or something.

realistically, unless you have lots of plat to spend and manage to find a fabled to spend it on, you may have to settle for legendary stuff...personally, i used Berik>Ghoulbane>damascus>scalesplitter>empowered ghoulbane...still looking for a t7 fabled

P.S. forget about ancient velium....some of the junkiest weapons you can get...i mean, come on....its a 1.3 second delay...even dual wielding thats way to fast of a delay...garbage. get Warders Call or empowered ghoulbane or bloodspiller or mondantholis untill you can do SoD or get a fabled primary.

no problem, didnt mean to come off as a jerk(although I obviously did), I just want to steer people away from those weapons as they are really bad for DPSing...they might do decent if you were dual wielding them and had no haste buffs, otherwise there is no time to get a combat art between swings.

the super low damage and delay thing (although it looks funny when seeing yourself swing every half a second) just really isnt good for dps

you want a longer delay so that you can incorporate more combat arts in between auto attacks with out delaying your auto-attack.

I believe its been said that auto attacks still account for more than like 50% of most swashies DPS so delaying them usually lowers your DPS.

The reason for wanting a slower weapon is so that you can time your Combat Arts.

Your auto-attack damage is (or can be) a very large percentage of your total overall damage output. When you cast a CA, it has a casting time and a recovery time. If that cast time and recovery time are taking place when an auto-attack would normally take place you are 'delaying' your auto-attack and therefore decreasing the overall amount of auto-attack damage that you output. If you just spam your CA's you are actually hurting your dps (this is not always true. It depends on your AA spec, but let's just assume it for purposes of argument).

A slower weapon gives you more room to comfortably cast a CA without getting in the way of a normal auto-attack. You can imagine how hard it could be to time a CA when your DW weapons are, with haste buffs, etc., hitting every .6 secs! If you have a 4 second weapon (hasted to 2 seconds), that means you can hit a CA, let auto-attack go off, hit a CA, let an auto-attack go off, etc., and maximize your damage output. You may even be able to do 2 CA's before an auto-attack.

Personally, I set up a separate chat window that I put at the feet of my toon. That chat window is set to show only "You Hit" and "You Crit Hit". As I am fighting I sorta watch when chat lines appear- telling me that my auto-attack has gone off- before I cast a CA. In this way I try to time it so that I don't miss an auto-attack.

I am sure I explained this poorly, but keep reading posts in the Rogue and Predator forums. You will begin to see why this is important.

Hope that helped!

Longer delay weapons typically have a bigger max damage stat as well. ALso since it's easier to time your CAs with longer delay weapons (especially when hasted), that along with bigger auto attack damage makes for much improved dps.

As a Monk I have found it is always best to get a weapon with an even second delay once you are hasted. My Monk use 1.6s delay weapons and self hasted it becomes a 1.0s delay. With a cast time of 0.5s and a recovery time of 0.5s I can spam/queue my CA's and not lose a single auto-attack. The same would apply with a 2s delay but I would instead get two CA's off between auto-attacks.Truth is with a weapon that is 2.1s delay and spamming CA's you will lose 0.9s of auto-attack each time. This is where timing your CA's comes in. I'm not a big fan of timing because you often lose time due to human error or lag.So IMHO the best weapons you can get are the ones that will end on a even second with haste unless you have a skill that reduces recover or cast timers. Aka the AGI for Brawler. Before GU38 I was able to have a 0.8s delay on my weapons. With a 05.s + 0.5s castings I was losing time on my auto-attacks. The AGI with Ambidextrerity and Baton Flurry would get me reduce my overall casting/recover timer to 0.8s which was prefect for my weapons. So saying you want the longest delayed weapon is wrong. You want the most even matched weapon you can get. Now depending on if you raid, group or solo more would determent the weapon delay you want. For my Monk it's easy since I'm near maxed haste self buffed I pick a weapon that matches my self buffed stats. While raiding I only pick up 0.1s delay on my weapons. Losing out on 0.1s while raiding is livable for me. I parsed 2nd in MMIS the other night only losing out to a Necro. Granted my guild is just starting to handle EoF zones.
