I was geeking along in my EQII music folders today and found a new folder in there. It's in Everquest II->music->ShardOfFear. It has 5 pieces of music in it, one longer piece and 4 flourishes. Some good stuff and I assume it's for the upcoming Shard of Fear zone that's going to be added in Kunark. I've heard it's supposed to be a shard of the Plane of Fear (huh, go figure). Is there any other lore or information out on it yet?

It's a level 70 group zone accessed from the portal of Fear in the Feerrott. That's all that's been revealed so far... and yes, it is only part of the Plane of Fear, so Cazic Thule will probably not be on the list of mobs you can kill. Wouldn't suprise me if he's part of a zone storyline though.

Think I also heard something about there were going to be two versions of it, a heroic and a raid. I can't wait for the fun and the lore, the music sounds pretty spooky. Maybe they'll bring it in early for Halloween? Doubtful but we can always hope =D

Cool stuff. I don't normally go poking around the subfolders, but I just had to go check out the music. It sounds really cool and should really set the atmosphere. I was only in Fear once in EQLive, but from what I remember the music should fit if they try to stick to a similar "vision" of the zone.On a side note, it looks like two familiar faces may be showing up... both Dread and Fright have their own music files, so I am assuming it is encounter/combat music. As well, going on the Fear = group, Hate = raid... was Hate a harder zone than Fear in EQLive? Like I said, was only in Fear once, and never went to Hate (I was a very casual player) but I seem to recall stories of Hate being more difficult and having better drops. I could be wrong though and just making things up.

Mortals cannot experience/comprehend the full being of a plane, what we see and experience is just a shadow of the true nature of the plane. And I'm kind of glad to see some planes coming back, but in a very limited sense. Avatars are enough, no silly actual God "killing" like PoP please.I would like to see some peaceful planes (or at least peaceful to some...) ala EQ1. I miss PoG and also the not-so-peaceful PoM hehe.

But I never had an 8 hour long corpse recovery in hate....

This is what the developers have confirmed.

Well, if you really want to know, the Plane of Fear has always been one of the hardest planes in the game, even despite being the first in the game. The place is so dangerous that you could spend an entire day trying to get your corpse back. There were no 100% safe spots in the zone, and the safest spot possible was on the north side of the (the zone in was on the south.)

Plane of Hate was actually quite easy. It's gothic-city layout allowed for more strict pathing (though it did have it's share of pathing bugs as well.)
