View Full Version : Leveling 50+?
This is my first time leveling a character past 50, and up until now its been a breeze. I'm 51 and it feels like once I got 50 I hit a brick wall. Im wondering if anyone could tell me where to go to level 50+? I've read a few places that SS blows for leveling and makes the 50's hell. That sounds about right based on my experience so far. There are hardly any quests for me to do. The best XP ive gotten so far has all come from grinding groups in pre DOF zones like permafrost.Any ideas? This is really bothering me.

EoF or KoS
Appreciate the response, but I need a little more than that. As far as content past the 50's goes, I'm clueless. Where in EoF and KoS can I level? How can I get there? That's the info I'm looking for.

If you don't like DoF:

and you have EoF: You might to look into some of the quest lines in Lesser Faydark.

and you have KoS: At 51, you might be too low (but not by much and depending on your class) to solo in KoS starting with the "basket quests" in Tenebrous Tangle.

at 51, you can still get XP in Solusek's Eye, Permafrost and Cazic-Thule (deep) but it won't be great XP since you will mostly be fighting mobs blue to you.

Also, you might want to try the solo quest lines in Pillars of Flame, which is adjacent to and higher level than Sinking Sands.

Thanks, I'll try lesser fay and see if KoS works out. I'm an SK by the way.

Doh, forgot the most important tip!

Check out this handy timeline for solo quest lines on EQ2i:

http://eq2.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Solo_Timelines

Playing solo she recently went from 55 to 57 in 2 days. I also do the LF guild writs given out in Kelethin. The Nybright, Camp of Wu and Fae Court sets of quests should get you leveling just fine.

Didn't notice the SK statement before I wrote what's above. No Kelethin writs or Fae Court quests for you but the timeline quests I listed for Wu and Nybright should work.

Basically working the repeatable faction quests on the docks as well as concurrently following the Ghasen trader line will get you through the low 50s pretty quickly. From there the natural progression is into the Pillars of Flame. Once you are 55+ then its Tenebrous Tangle for the best place. Do every basket quest until you can't basket anymore then work the repeatable quests from hidden refuge. Lesser Faydark is fantastic as well but TT is much quicker due to its small size. The only downside is no AA xp in TT after you've done the repeatable quests once.Basically check the soloing timeline on the wiki (someone linked it earlier) and check out all the spots in your level range. Find one that works for you and pursue it. Double it up with keeping the LFG tag on and try to get some perma or cazic groups to mix it up for entertainment.
My problem is that at 51 I've completed all the solo quest lines in SS, aside from the beetle herding one which I'll be done with in a few minutes. There just didn't seem like a whole lot of content in the zone.

Get some instance groups...

Leveling the lower 50's I had the most luck with the back corner of SS fighting Sandscrawler Gobbies. There are also entrances into the POF that continue the groups of goblins and there are also quests in a small area there which leveled me quite fast. Now im onto Lesser Fay and occasionally POF since I hit 55+. GL! Even though EQ2 is always a good time, the 50's has been the most fun that I've had in a while! Dont get discouraged, remember to always refer to Allakhazam or EQ2i if your running out of ideas of quests to do.

Aye, if you can, get instance groups for Mines of Meldrath and Court of Innovation, both in Steamfont Mountains. If not...DoF as a whole sucks for leveling....Lesser Faydark is an option, but it can be an irritating zone. In my opinion, 50-60 is the most annoying stretch in the game to level through.
I hear this a lot on these boards that 50 - 60 are the longest levels in the game and after you get through them, 60 - 70 just flys by. How true is this? I am currently in my mid 50's and I have been trying my best to get through these levels but they do seem MUCH longer than any of the previous levels. I am hoping to get 57 by the end of this weekend (almost to 56 now) and get to 60 by next weekend which is doable but it is much more difficult than the mid 40's where I could hit 2 levels a night just by running one instance.....

Have to say that the solo questline from the Sinking Sands through to Pillars of Flame generates a lot of experience. There are a few brick walls like the Sandscrawler quests which are made tedious by the ever present bot teams in PoF but most of it is OK.

There's also quite a few soloable quests to be found in Maj Dul itself including repeatable ones and Tears Grifter quests that scale to your level.

Unfortunately all the item rewards are absolutely terrible throughout. Even the final reward is obsolete now. However the cash rewards largely make up for it.

I'd suggest doing the Maj Dul quests before trying to do the faction quests so that Maj Dul is largely aggro free.

There are also a lot of solo or small group quests in Lesser Faydark though personally I find them to be more tedious than the SS/DoF ones.

There is more to do in the 60s, as well as more people to do it with. Lots of disco leveling from a ton of instances, and you will find yourself completing more heroic quests just from accepting a group invite.

quests or instance groups. the days of kill, kill, kill, rinse, repeat are over once you get up there. hopefully youve saved your xp boost drinks from the vet rewards and can find a reliable group or two. SS has several quest lines that not only will boost your AA but give rewards to use and sell and will move your xp bar. check the forums or ogaming to see the list and try to get as many as possible and run them all to completed' status before turning in at once. ive had times where i did 7 or 8 quests in there at upper 40s / low 50s and have gotten either en entire toon level or within 5 ot 10% to next lvl. for me its a bit mroe fun than endless slaughtering randon mobs. EOF has quest lines too, the island of Marr is good for a level or so and an AA or 2, and when you hit upper 50s / low 60s KOS is where its at. good luck bro and hope you hit 70 before expansion cause everytime theres an expansion leveling always gets a bit goofy til you figure the new content out
