As a casual play Ranger I have adopted the Raincaller as my primary bow. I enjoy using it, its a great weapon and a nostalgic piece to use from my days in EQ1.

But I had aquired a Torn Ligament Longbow and with the ability to adorn it, I attuned the bow and put in a scintilating vampiric pith. It seemed to be ok but as a Ranger thats more experienced in equipment than I had explained, it requires higher level ammo to be fully effective ('DOH), ammo that isnt openly available to a casual player without obtaining a raid bow to summon or a recipe obtained by raid (by either means you probably have a better bow then the Torn Ligament).

Now i'm not an item expert, as I said i'm a pretty casual player. But i'm having a hard time wrapping my head around why they would even bother with creating the Torn Ligament Longbow. If it's level requires the tier ammo obtained by means of fabled encounters to be fully effective, why would anyone want to use it when they probably have access to looting a better bow? Especially with the Raincaller being fairly easy to obtain.

I hope I dont sound like i'm complaining or whining, as I mentioned I am perfectly content with the Raincaller, I am just wondering if I am missing something on the Torn Ligament. I wouldnt mind using it for the damage potential and stats but if it is'nt worth it compared to the Raincaller I will either bank or vendor it.

Thanks for any insight provided

*edit* to clarify the title
