Which begs the question, is Plasma Wand still king, or should we be thinking Lucanic / Soulfire weapons now?I know it's early to be looking for processed math on the subject, but I just have to wonder if that short term 8% increase still tops a flat +75 damage since it's not longer a question of random damage added post crit or anything like that.

Short Answer: Plasma Wand

<p>slightly longer answer: assuming the average wizzy casts ~20 damage spells per minute and you get 1.8 proc per minute from Soulfire staff, as long as you are doing around 1250 dps the plasma wand will be more dps on average, (freak proc string do occur and you may be procless on plasma for an entire fight) in group settings it will be closer as mobs die really fast, my stuff above is based off of raids.</p><p>So for groups I would go soulfire and raids Plasma  mostly because the soulfire is guarenteed and the plasma is proc based which on short fights sucks if you get bad luck.</p>

Soulfire proc gets handy too in group fights if you happen to pull agro... small heals can save a death or 2 ;p (Soulfire + Signet of Light + Fitzpitzle is kinda nice for group/solo play)Now in raids, those heals are utter worthless, but that's another questionRaid -> Plasma ftwGroup -> Both are nice but im inclined to say Soulfire (mobs die too often before you can cast more then 3 spells anyways ;p)

Theres also an earring that drops in Castle MM which has a stun proc on it which is very useful when soloing (haven't got the chance yet to get Stone of Nizara !)Top that with Gown of Glory (ward) and the ward from wisdom AA line and you have some survivability

I am still a bit confused.  PPl say plasma wand but when i look at wizards in high end guilds in eq2players if they dont have the avatar wand they have soulfire.  That mean anything? or they doin it fir show? (to be honest i wouldnt put it past them)
