So I'm at work and decided to fire off my EQ2 updater remotely so that I dont have to wait when I get home. I notice it downloading some new mp3 files.I'm assuming at this point that its placeholder for RoK, or possibly a zone that will come before launch:Check your musiczonesShardOfFear directory:ShardOfFear.mp3SoF_AmygdalanCastle.mp3So F_Dread.mp3SoF_Fright.mp3SoF_RingOfFire.mp3I'm assuming this zone is not in game yet? I'm noticing now that a separate vpk pak file is download as well. This is in the back of the Feerott by CT right?Music is pretty eerie and creepy, but majestic at the same time - give it a try!Edit: Most expansion material begins with something like exp03_dun_crushbone to indicate its the 3rd Expansion, dun for dungon, etc, but this was standalone - much like Neriak. Possibly content to arrive before the expansion to set the stage?agressiv

There are 2 Fear zones that are slated for befor RoK wich means the next update if it did not come in this one(if you look at a calander they don't have time for more then 1 befor RoK). I beleave one is heroic and the other raid.

Shard of Fear is a group zone that will take you into a portion of the Plane of Fear. Don't expect to fight Cazic.

Shard of Hate is a raid zone that will take you into a portion of the Plane of Hate. I doubt that Innoruuk will be on the menu.

Seems silly to put time into these zones since the expansion is so close. SoE should have released these 4 or 5 months ago so people would have a chance to do them more than a couple times before the level cap increases.

Don't forget they will be putting in the Halloween stuff before RoK so maybe these zones go in with that update?side note, I hope they change the halloween stuff, I really look forward to it, but if it's the same again........

Putting in more T7 stuff so close to the expansion is not all that great - there's plenty of T7 content already. Hopefully, if these do go in before RoK, they can be updated soon after RoK to proper T8 content.

Don't forget that even though it's being released in T7 if the gear inside is only level 70, It could also be used as a low T8 zone once the level cap raises. Most of the gear in Unrest is level 70, the only things I can think that aren't are the set gear which are level 69. This means the level 70 stuff still valid gear at level 80. Plus it would be easy enough for the devs to set up itemization such that they re-itemize it once T8 is out, if the mobs are high enough. I applaud the idea of continually adding new content, and am looking forward to a new zone.

I wouldn't put it past them to also raise the lvl of these zones or heck they could make them "High End" zones where the MoBs start at lvl 73 and go up, this would make them Low T8 zones along the lines of Roost(for T6 in DoF) and SoS(for T7 in KoS).

perhaps they are scaleable and have different loot tables for T7 and T8? the t7 requires max level 70 and drops T7 loot and max level 80 for the T8? sounds good to me

I don't think they will add it in the last update before the expantion my guess it might be zone they add a month or 2 after the expantion. As tier 8 zones.

Besides why can't they release the zone as T8? All Raiders and most advanced groupers are already doing T8 content. Granted these zones will be at the very bottom of T8 but they very well could be a good place to get RoK starter gear.

Well the LUs go up every 4-6 weeks... seems when they get closer to an expansion they get longer.

Last 4 LU's were:

LU 35: 4 weeksLU 36: 5 weeksLU 37: 5 weeksLU 38: 6 weeks

Expansion is 9 weeks away from LU38, so its very likely that there will be at least one more LU before then (and then an LU as part of expansion release, as was the case for DoF, KoS, and EoF)

Not sure if it will be 4 and 5, 5 and 4, 6 and 3, or what...

But I'd think the devs would at least say if the Shard of Fear zone got pushed back until after RoK relaese, they would at least tell us. I figured they wanted to bring people back with some new content just before the expansion to start to build some momentum of returning players. They did say it would be High T7 "like unrest", and did say it would be released before RoK at fan faire.

If I had to venture a guess.. I'd say (since 6 weeks for last LU), that next LU will be a 5 week-er.And will be released on Wednesday, October 17th, and will include the 2 new zones, as well as the Halloween live event (which possibly will tie into the 2 new zones)

Best guess it just to keep an eye on the test server patch notes. It will be confirmed there before anywhere else I'd think.

P.S. LU has to be either the 17th, or 24th, because halloween is the 30th.

Us oldschoolers should remember that the original Plane of Hate went live during the first (and huge) Halloween event in '99.

Would be quite appropriate for the new one in EQ2 to go live Halloween 8 years later.
