View Full Version : City Merchant Workstations and proposed Tradeskilling changes

We all know (most, anyway) that the City Merchant sells tradeskilling stations of varying tiers.

From what I have read about proposed crafting changes, if you fail to get pristine when crafting, you may get something like your raws back, or a portion of fuel used back, depending on how close to pristine you made.

Since there are different types of tradeskilling stations (simple, elegant, etc) that cannot make pristine items, what would happen to those people who bought the lower cost stations?

They are not capable of making pristine on the simple ones, so they could craft on them forever and never "make" anything.

Are they going to be upgraded to the higher end station? Are they going to be able to sell it back to city merchant to recoup their loss and buy a higher tier station?

There was only one station type that was left in game that wasn't the Elaborate (Pristine creating) station and that's the Simple (Crude creating) station. The ONLY reason this was left in the game TMK was to allow a "just for looks" station without the inflated price. Upgrading the Simple stations or removing them would counter the purpose they were left in the game for.I'm pretty sure, just like all City Merchant sold items, you can already sell back the workstations to the City Merchant for the full status cost spent on the item and a fraction (like 2/3 - 3/4) of your coin.

Those Simple tables come in handy for things other than just for display, too. I've used them to make t1 mastercrafted junk for my Transmuter to munge, and for my Transmuter to then make most of his t1 adornments on for skillups. Both tasks require nothing more than crude. The workbench also came in handy for skilling up my Tinkerer. I had plenty of materials, as I harvest all my own stuff, so I wasn't worried about conserving raws, but rather with skilling up quickly. Since stopping at crude on each combine gave me as much chance of a skillup as pristine, it worked swimingly!
