If there is no evidence of it other than a forum tag, which does not make sense to me, I call shenanigans.  A tag just gives people a chance to hound people in beta for information.  Personally, I think that if Beta was going on, you'd see an official post.  I don't think it's just going to be ninja'd in, by giving people forum tags, nor do I think people in the forums would necessarily have that tag applied, I preordered the magazine, and I hope I don't  have that tag because I know if I have that tag more people not in beta will want me to tell them things I'm unable to because of the NDA, giving me extra hassles.

Couple the guild that the person in the pic was a member of AND the fact that there still is not a BETA sign-up sheet on the main EQ2 page I would say that. It's definatly Friends and Family BETA at this point.</p><p>We will know it in full beta when non-beta people start seeing just 3 or 4 posts per page on dev tracker. As most forum programs just delete off the page those threads you don't have permition to see.</p>

RoK sign up has started in community news but also i preorderd the mag and they took a LONG time before i was even billed which screwed up all the numbers how can it be considered a preorder if they didnt bill me till like the 23rd or so i have no proof i preordered it i hope they do i dont feel like getting shafted

You usually get billed when the product ships on preorders, cause you can always cancel the preorder and that would require SOE to return your money *gasp*

<p>Although getting into a beta may seem like "Oh cool, I get to see stuff before you" and bragging rights, it's not about that. For one thing, you have the NDA, which means you really aren't supposed to discuss all the cool parts about it. And the second thing that it's about is to actually get people's input, for them to say the things that are wrong, so it can get tweaked for the release.</p><p> I for one, had beta tested on EQ since PoP came out, and each expansion after that until I retired from EQ1. Am I gonna get into the beta for EQ2, who knows? But if I do, then I know what also needs to be done.</p>

<p>I wish you all the best of luck getting into beta.  It probably won't be that hard at the end.  Usually isn't.</p><p> However, if you don't get in for some odd reason.. know that beta isn't all that great.  I was in the last expansion's beta and the only thing I got from the experience is depression.  They added that second aa system and the moment I saw it I felt it was a very weak and completely useless system with few useful skills/abilities.  Perhaps that was just for my class at the time.  Saw that the god system was pretty boring too.  So what was left... monsters and stuff... zones... the zones were bigger when this game needs SMALLER outdoor zones.(best expansion yet was the gnoll one.. and what was that? one small area with a bunch of instances!!! best thing ever)   The big ones just end up being a waste of space.</p><p> Sorry, I didn't intend to rant or anything.  My point is simply that beta isn't very special.  You're more likely to be disappointed by the lack of anything good.</p><p>So if you don't get in, don't worry. Just enjoy what parts of the game you can enjoy.</p><p>(as far as I can tell there's only one thing of interest in the new expansion to me anyway.. the possible.. change in loot system... which will more than likely be disappointing <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY<img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />" width="15" height="15" /></p></blockquote><p>Splitpaw was an adventure pack like D'Morte, and Village of Shin.  They were meant to remain small.  I do agree splitpaw was a great addition into the game, but nothing compared to EoF.</p><p>I disagree with you greatly.  I have had the pleasure in participating in all the betas so far.  The consistant player and DEV associations give SoE instant feedback, and allow them to fine tune their games faster.  Feedback in the Beta Forums provides feedback on Bugs, and game content that would be impossible for the just few that staff the small San Diego office to realistically ponder upon (You would be surprised to see the few that provide these games for tens of thousands).  Beta is good for everyone involved...  Makes the game better upon launch.</p><p>Well...  You can not be too unhappy since you are still paying. You can never make everyone happy, but if you can make just 90% happy you have a winning product.</p>

<p>Just an FYI if having problems with an invite you got to beta PM a mad just disclosing that you are in beta is a violation of the NDA I have betad a lot of games and have seen people kicked out just because of that.</p>

<p>The rank above your avatar is the rank associated with your current guild. It is not a forum thing. If you dont believe me change your persona in your profile and watch it change to guild and rank associated with that persona. If you don't have a rank go to profile and select a persona</p><p>Also forum rank doesn't matter for beta unless you are one of the ones picked for the closed beta because of the input and presence you give on the boards .. other beta selections are a random process from the pool. There are other threads from the devs stating this.</p>

im praying not to get into beta. i can wait til it goes live and then complain about the 3 days it will take to patch everything and finish downloading the updates, and then when it's finally on my computer and ready to go ill enjoy the new content. if youre a beta kinda player good luck and enjoy, im a total patient pete and can wait.

The EQLive boards recently had a thread talking about their SoF beta and whether or not it was ok to say you were in it; and IIRC Zat (our board mod) did say it would be ok to say you were in it; but you couldn't say anything about the Beta itself. In general, in my experience, SOE seems to be pretty lax in NDA enforcement anyways. If you released something major (like announcing all of the new Tradeskill recipes before launch), you would probably have action taken against you. (Up to and including an angry ogre hunting you down for spoiling months worth of his work). For minor stuff (like simply saying you are in Beta and nothing more) they tend to turn a blind eye to it. Oh and about board ranks. In my experience, the way the board system works, you have your basic ranks that you get by having an active subscription and gives you access to the open boards. They also have private boards for a variety of things (Moderators, Dev's, Beta's, etc...), which are hard coded to an account without needing an active subscription. When the boards can't connect to the accounts servers for whatever reasons, they default to the General account, BUT if you have access to 'special' boards, you will see your account at a different rank; whatever the rank is for those special boards. I suspect that was probably what people were seeing when they saw others wiht a board ranking of "RoK Beta"
