For the last week every time I launch the patcher for the live server it insists on re-downloading .vpks, starting with Char_monsters.vpk. It's a 3-5 hour patch every time, and nothing I do seems to circumvent it. I've defrag'd and scandisked (can't ever hurt), performed a full file scan, deleted the file and had it re-patch from scratch, copied the file from hubby's computer, changed all the optional download options to "don't download anything extra, and moved the Test server folder (which I'd done a fresh patch on right before this happened the first time) to my secondary hard drive.. I'm at my wit's end; not only does this make the game pretty much unplayable for me, but I've got a download limit on my ISP account and I'm gonna blow it all to heck after doing this every night trying to fix it and it's gonna cost me money.Any ideas why I keep re-patching these stupid files? I'm hoping someone will have an ah-hah! fix.

I finally called SOE support and they had me just download the expansion from their site instead of using my disks. Maybe call support and see if you can do the same thing for the files you're getting hung up on? Sorry I can't be more help.

another thing to try is to do a search on your hard drive for *.vpk and delete all of them inside the sony->EQ2 folder. then run the patcher again and it should download all of those files completely instead of just the "delta" file which is only the small bit of code that is supposedly different from your current files. apparently your current ones must be corrupted somehow which is why the patcher keeps trying to patch them, but since they are borked, the patcher cant actually patch them correctly so it just keeps trying over and over again. if that fails, try what the above poster suggested.

Ultimately that's what I ended up doing. I'd already made note of and deleted the ones that were repatching constantly, but it took deleting the entire contents of the Paks directory to correct it. It patched faster than trying to patch over whatever was corrupted, too.

I have been using the same install files from once pc to the other since the game launched. I format my PC often. So I make a synchronized back up of my Sony folder on my external drive. I have done this well over 50 times in the past few years. Recently when I happened to upgrade to a 64bit OS, I started having this exact same problem. However it is not EVERY day. It is every now and then. Like today I played on test some (yes I have a 2ndary folder for test as well on a 2nd drive even) then I came back to play some on live.. bam. I have to patch these *.vpk files all over again.

Did the above mentioned ideas resolve your issue ?
