I recently started playing EQ2 again after about a 5 month hiatus. I had since deleted the files from my machine, whereas my girlfriend hadn't. So, being impatient, I copied her directory (everquest II and Station) over. Actually I copied classic EQ and Vanguard as well since we are paying for Station Exchange, but I digress.

I had immediate problems. The first was that she uses an ATI card whereas I use an NVidia. This didn't occur to me immediately, but once I managed to change the client options, hitting play no longer caused the game to crash immediately. I also have to run EQ2.exe as Administrator. I honestly forget what happens when I run this as my normal user... though I think it crashed on hitting play as well. Note that irregardless, I ALWAYS have about a 12 minute patch everytime I play. Not sure what's causing this, but the patcher doesn't seem to give me credit for files downloaded.

Anyway... I was dealing with all that and was able to play, but it dawned on me that even though I had the custom UI I've always used still installed (and I believe its installed properly, though I may be wrong) the custom UI is essentially ignored. The application seems to refuse to acknowledge that its installed.

ProfitUI folder is in the UI folder and eq2.ini has the following lines:

cl_ui_skinname ProfitUIcl_ui_subdir UI/

So... is this all some sort of side-effect of having copied the files across machines? Is it some sort of weird permission issue caused by the copying? Any suggestions would be welcome!
