View Full Version : Trait STA not raising HP???

On Test last night I chose STA for my first coercer trait at level 8. I was at 132 HP before selecting my trait, and was 132 after choosing STA as my trait. What the heck happened? Last year, or was it before then, I used to get HP increases after choosing STA. Is this working as intended? If so, what else is not working as it once was, with respect to traits, stats, and skills? I'm going to delete my coercer and start over, this time choosing INT, assuming that one still works for coercers!!! Grrrr!

you know, you can respec your character and take int w/o having to delete him.. it's like 5 silver.

Hum the + sta should be raising your HP. That is pretty much all the Sta stat does for any class (including coercers). Possibly due to your low level when you picked it the +5 sta only increased it by a fraction ( I am pretty sure different classes get different amounts from + sta but I couldn't tell you any percentage ).

I recently took a +sta trait on my defiler and it definately boosted her hp, but she is on a live server. Perhaps a bug on test?

I forget what the formula is, but I would have to guess that you must be above the cap for your level and are therefore not seeing the increased hp. As you level you should notice it increasing. I saw a thread a long time ago that showed how to calculate your caps for the different stats based upon your level.

Hmm! I had forgotten about those caps. But I can't imagine to have already hit the HP cap, since I was nearly naked and wearing only 4 junk items I got from trash mobs or newbie quests at the time. I'll search for that thread. Thanks for the suggestion!

I've already tried the /respec command and it said I couldn't do it at that time. I've never used that command before so I can't say for sure that I was doing it correctly. But starting over below level 10 is no big deal. I have this routine that I go through wiht every new alt and I'm an altaholic anyway! Once I verify the caps, I'll know what to do next. Thanks for that suggestion!

Great people on these boards!

Here are some formulas I found. As you can see at low levels the caps are quite low. *** Caps *** Skill Caps: The Formula to see caps at your own level are: ( 6 * Your Level ) = 420 @ lvl 70 Stat Caps: The Formula to see caps at your own level are: ( 20 + ( 7 * Your Level )) = 510 @ lvl 70 Note: 20 Should be replaced by your class starting stats for that attribute but for a more overall formula I decided to stick to the 20 that humans use. In-combat HP regen cap is (3 x Level ) In-combat Power regen cap is (1.5 x Level) In-combat item HP regen cap is (3 x Level x 0.5) In-combat item Power regen cap is (1.5 x Level x 0.5) Total Avoidance Caps: 80% Mitigation Caps: 80% Spell Mitigation Caps: 70% Base Defense Cap: 80% Deflect Cap: 70% Parry Cap: 70% Haste Cap : 100% With a minimum delay of 0.8 Seconds DPS Cap: 100% *** Formula's *** Weapon Proc Chance : ( ( Delay / 3 ) * Proc % ) CA / Spell Proc Chance: ( ( Cast timer / 3 ) * Proc % ) Mitigation %: (Total Mitigation / LvL ) = The % Of dmg you will absorb from same LvL MOB.

A little off topic but haste and dps mod cap is 125% and not 100%

New caps are:Stats: [15 * level] + 20 = 1070 @ lvl 70Skills: 6.5 * Level = 455 @ lvl 70Haste and DPS: A diminishing returns formula with a cap of 200 points of each, and 125% of effect. We know the points [(0,0), (100,100), (200, 125)] but I haven't seen a full on formula for them. Someone who took a lot of data points could figure this out, if someone else hasn't already.Mitigation%: Also on diminishing returns, capped at 75% mitigation at [150 * level] = 10,500 @ lvl 70. 3675 points of mitigation = 52.5%, with the distance slowly decaying in effectiveness.Because its diminishing returns, each additional point really starts to decay at about 60% of the value, or about 640ish. For level 8, this is 140 STA and 52 skill, respectively. While I really doubt you were very high on that scale, the health/sta at that level is pretty small, so its possible that at lvl 8, that amount of STA was only enough to raise your health by .7 hp or something. Or its possible that stats just weren't working properly on Test (its happened before) when you were playing. Either way, one point of any stat is meant to be a really tiny amount of impact on a character, so I would have /bugged it and given details so the devs/QA could look at it to make sure it wasn't bugged, and kept going till I'm near a respec merchant since the impact of those 5 stats is really small.

Wow! Those replies were awesome! Thanks to everyone who contributed. I see now that it is a bug because I started a new Arasai coercer alt at level 1 and stripped naked to make note of my starting stats. Adding one item that was STA+1 and HP+5, all I saw was my HP increased by 5. Stamina had no effect on my HP. I will take this information and determine if I should make a bug report tonight. Again, thanks to all, especially for the formula post. I had no luck in finding them myself.

You're welcome - I guess the post I had found was not completely up-to-date, but at least the info you needed was pertinent.

It looks like my problem is a bug unless the change in HP is so slight that it doesn't register at my level. I'll play around with that some more by wearing lots of STA items to see if I can get my HP to increase by 1. But if that's the case, I'll stick with intelligence for my trait choices from now on. Maybe next time I'll start an Ogre coercer to give me a somewhat better chance at survival and the strength to carry more loot.
