Ok I know about the site EQ Interface etc.. I was just wondering what the normal method of install any ui addons , is it to simply place anything inside the UI folder or is there a different path?

example /EQ/UI or /EQ/UI/Addon

TIA.

Personally, I use the ThorUI - it has some great features! When you download it, it will install into the correct place (Your UI folder) and there will be a readme file or something to help you get started; it's not really difficult or complicated at all

No probs

Like I said, ThorUI has some great features, one of the more useful being a couple of icons above the quest window, which when pressed, will open the in-game browser to one of two sites, allahkazam and EQ2i.com, and link you directly to the quest info for the currently selected quest!

Also, make sure you download the EQ2Map add-on - it's a great improvement over the in-game map, and comes with an auto-updating version, so you should never have out-dated map info.

Good luck with it!

eq2interface has a FAQ linked at the top of each site explaining how to install an custom UI. Also most mods come with their own installation information. Important to note if you download several mods is that they all must reside in the same folder.

FYI, gm9 is the man. The ProfitUI Reborn interface is his baby and it is the most popular (for good reasons) of all of the all-inclusive interfaces.

Not sure what he meant by the last sentence though. Each mod should go into its own separate folder under UI folder. There may be a file or two that go in UI folder or top-level folder. Read the installation information.

PS: I highly recommend Profit UI.

I use a combination of various add on / enhancements to my UI. EQ2Map, Mother's Tradeskill window, Mook hotbar, etc. The bundled UI's are nice and convenient but I find that updating them tends to overwrite the ones that I've chosen to use a different UI for. Needless to say.. I back up my UI very frequently since Frankenstiening my UI the way I did was not something I did in just one sitting.

I'm very new to the EQ2 world but I tried a few UI's and found the EliteUI most helpful. Just my 2cents.

However, I do highly recomend placing you custom UI Files in a sub-folder to the UI folder for ease of back up that way you can just rename your back-up and copy those files to a new UI folder.

When you install custom UI bits, you have to have them all in the same folder under the general UI folder in order for them all to function together (this coming from someone who moded their own UI and added a couple of things I was too lazy to mod from other mods).

It should be in something like everquestIIuiyourmodsname.

Many of the full UI mods have set up things that will install it correctly, but if you choose one that does not or opt to do the bits & pieces approach to get a more customized mod then you will need to do what was said above. EQ2interface details how to do so.

OK -- a semantic issue. By "mod" I thought gm9 was talking about the entire user interface which consist of a large group of individual modded files. Obviously, he & you (Finora) are considering each file as a "mod". I think we all agree, in general.

TOTALLY UNRELATED QUESTION.. Hello, PLEASE HELP.. or is there no hope for me??? I have a really newb question. How do i post a question on the forums?? Sad i know and probably beyond all hope but i have spent 2 hours clicking every link available and no luck. Am i really that sad? Hope not. FYI I am a lvl 8 warden who has just landed in freeport / nagafen server. Last night I wandered around looking for my "room" that i can rent for 5 silver a week. I think i am going to do some harvesting to get some money - and then work out the mechanics on selling the stuff later. I dont want to level fast at all - i am taking it all in ( i'm a complete newb so feel a bit overwhelled ). I did get a few heals off on a fellow pvp'er that was attacking some skeletons so I really proud of myself :: pats himself on the back:: Sorry to to bother - just like the game and need some starter help - i feel i'm going to need it. Thanks MrSmall

EQ2Interface is where it is at. My husband and I are fans of the uncluttered wide screen view, so we use Laffs_Lite UI with some add on modifiers like custom sized (non labled) containers, typing while zoning, a special raid window and other fun do-hickies. We had to tweak it a little to get it just right, but I hear most end up tweaking the set up some to fit their preferance.

*See screenshot
