View Full Version : Early Solo Leveling Strategy (AA'a)

If you plan is to level to 70 virtually 100% solo (as I do) then I propose the following as the optimum AA sequence:

1) 1st AA -- Shapeshift (natch) -- winter wolf (spell crit)

2) Next 21 AA's in Animalism (including Animal Form) --

a) Maxing Peerless Predator will give you 35% runspeed (40% with some races) (in/out of combat) -- this is great for speeding up quests

b) Animal Form is amazing -- which is why I recommend this line 1st rather than the more standard Energy line. You can kill stuff unbelievably fast and replenish power as a bonus. At the low level when you can get this (I got it at 24 but level locking you could get it sooner) it is a game changing ability. Even more so than Energy Vortex (I feel at the lower levels). For one thing it has a 60 sec recast compared to 90 sec recast for vortex. The amazing part is that this healer, known for it dots and dd's, is generating more dps meleeing.

3) Next 23 AA's in Strength -- I'm torn on this choice. I haven't really advanced far enough to see if it is better than Energy line; but the synergy with the haste and healing attacks in the strength line make it very appealing. The haste in Animal Form with a fast weapon is already insane. If you add additional haste from the strength melee attack then you could be healing quite often from Natural Boon.

I would be interested in hearing from any who have followed this strategy.

100 points of haste = 100% haste200 points of haste = 125% hasteNot so sure if I would waste a bunch of AA's to bump haste more only to have 3/4 of it drop into the black hole.

hmmhh

while more haste is always good, like previous poster said, diminishing results in that make the gains very little.

also, fast weapon is good for animal form.. slower weapons would be better for natural boon? or they would raise the proc chance % (proc chance normalized against 3s delay weapons i believe, faster = less chance, slower = more). But of course more hits = more chances to proc, so...

but definitely the natural boon healing could be nice, but then you'd have to be meleeing of course... which is not a problem i think, even with heroic mobs, i think fury's healing power + dmg can make you stand a few hits (if not interrupted too much).

++Xan

Good points about the diminishing returns on haste. That coupled with the fact that you don't get Animal Form proc on both hits of a double hit makes me rethink going down strength tree. I think I will still do it just to see how good it is and respec to energy if I don't think it's worth it.

I am really interested to see how often the heal procs during an Animal Form melee against a significant opponent.

I just got Savagery so yet another haste proc (plus dps proc). 15% percent chance to proc during high-speed melee should be interesting as well.

Levels 23-26 have been magical for me as a Fury:

1) Strike of Thunder at 23

2) Master II of Strike of Thunder (basically energy vortex without the power cost) at 24

3) Animal Form at 24

4) Circle ports at 25 (just when I started questing in T3 zones)

5) Savagery at 26 (I think I now have 8-9 self buffs while soloing)

I have now level-locked at 26 until I finish off a bunch of level 19-26 quests (although killing level 19 mobs is definitely unfair to the mobs right now).

The only wierd things are that I have a million heal spells that I have never used (only regrowth line) and several root/snare spells that I have never used.

yah, theres really no challenge in the solo mobs when playing healer classes... you'd have to find some blue heroics to have some decent fights. Sad, but true... i kinda liked the old way more, even thou the things were slower and more difficult back then... oh well, i still like to play however personally i think that druids in particular have it pretty easy against solo mobs/encounters... but i bet any good geared class feels the same, just that ability to do decent DPS together with nice healing power + ports and invis or evac = awesome ++Xan
