Hey guys, I made an Ogre Defiler in Neriak. This character will be for grouping only. I would like some advice on what I need to do on achievements to maximize his strengths.

I saw in some post that going down the Str/Wis line was best. Is it?

What about the other achievement line?

Now please understand I am a Shaman idiot. So any advice would be helpful, especially what is the proper way to fight and keeping the tank alive. My Defiler is only level 8, but he will be around along time.

Thanks in advance.

My Defiler is only mid 20's but from what i read the str line seems to be more a raid thing i would say Int and Wisdom lines will do you well for grouping atleast they have done me fairly well

Str/wis is good for raiding, but also helpful for grouping if you want to boost your healing ability. If instead you want to boost your dps, agi/int will help.

They covered the aa questions above me....so I'll talk about basic defiler stuff. Use your wards. Shamans have the weakest heals of the healer classes because our specialty is preventing damage in the first place with wards. Your wards only last for 30 seconds so you have to keep an eye on them and refresh them to keep them up so that the person you are warding doesn't take too much damage. In a group I usually throw my wards once the tank grabs aggro (in grouping, be careful about this, if you throw your ward before the taunt, you may catch it yourself) then depending how quickly my wards are dropping, I throw a debuff or two, then refresh my ward and if needed throw a heal just to keep the tank up in hp. when you get up there enough, you will get a dog through your aa line. A lot of people don't like the dog because they can't keep it alive. However if you only send it in after the mt has pulled and you throw your group ward and keep it up, your dog will be fine.

When you get the option to master 2 an ability (I think that comes up every 4? lvls) always master 2 the wards. They are the most important imo of all of your spells.

Well I hope this helps.

Elistraee

I play my 53 defiler a ton, and have not regretted ever running down the Strength line for soloing/grouping. I also did the Wisdom line entirely and it has served me well. I'd also highly recommend running down the Decaying line under our class stuff and getting Cannibalize--I honestly have no clue how useful it is in a raid setting, but I wear that ability out when I'm soloing and as a main healer in groups. Even with Forced Canni I use both ini tandem to keep unlimited power for the most part. Granted I also locked experience for a good portion of my leveling up and have stockpiled a lot of AA's for my level, but I've also had a lot of time to work with the various setups in that time and figure out what I liked most.

There's a ton of good info on these boards from people playing defilers as a main, but I'm very comfortable with how I've set my defiler alt up for grouping and soloing.

Last time I played my defiler his heals cost less mana than any other healer and it healed the most outside of the templar (we had the same). Not that I am suggesting to not use wards but unless they changed our heals they are pretty good as well.

I've leveled almost to 70 with my defiler since my previous post, and as far as I can tell defilers get the best heals out there--they're mana efficient and have the biggest bang. Comparing them to all the other healer class heals, ours seem to surpass those. Of course, we pay part of our health to heal others, but that's hardly a consequence to me.
