So I just bought the game today installed it and everything I also installed a brand new graphics card (Radeon X1950 XT) and have all the software set up correctly. I can turn on the game and play for about 5-10 mins normally until the game shuts down and I get this... Fatal Error. Everquest II had detected an unrecoverable error and must shut down. <Verify> D:liveeq2frameworkcoredevicessrcDirectX9RenderDevi ce.cpp(1997)irectX. A LOT of people are having this problem with possible fix suggestions ranging from altering the everquest2.exe file to re-installing direct x to having a nice cup of tea and then headbutting the wall. It would be nice to get some feedback from the tech guys here on this one.

Yeah, what Stuka said.

Do a forum search on the "out of memory/direct X error message" and weep. I've been getting the message for a couple of months now. Tried everything everyone suggested and finally picked up the phone and called SOE tech support. They basically gave me your run of the mill suggestions... run my spyware programs, test my memory, update my drivers, defrag, etc etc and when all of that was done, they pretty much said "If that doesn't work we can't help you".

I dunno what the problem is but it's a persistant one. Some of us get the msg, some of us don't. Still no official word from SOE about it, as far as I know. On June 7th a CSR posted on this thread: http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=364955... said that they were working on it. Since then, nothing.

Sorry I can't be of more help... I feel your pain, believe me!
