View Full Version : Stuck on Connecting to Zone Server.

Alright, the problem is, sometimes when I try to login or when I try to change zones on a character already logged in I start to load the zone and it freezes on the Connecting to Zone Server part then kicks me out to the character selection screen. Then from there I just keep getting the same problem, it won't get passed the Connecting to Zone Server stage.

It has happened about 4 times to me over a period of 4 or 5 days, it usually lasts around 3 hours. It occurs to many of my characters, sometimes all. I believe it is related to the actual zone, becuase I got kicked out in Thundering Steppes, then I logged on to a character in Nektulos and it was fine, until I took that character into TS, which resulted in him getting booted and me not being able to log onto him for the duration of the problem.

Also, I would like to add that this is a newer problem. I have been playing EQ2 on and off for about 2 years. I started back up probably about a week ago and it wasn't happening the first couple of days, now I get it like twice or three times on a full day of playtime. Last night it happened at 6:00 P.M. and was down until about 10:00 P.M. The only things that have changed are, possibly the router I am using, the amount of computers on the same modem, and this computer is new.

Here is my internet connection information. If any other information besides this is needed, just say so and I can post it as well.

Windows IP Configuration

Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : Justin-PC Primary Dns Suffix . . There are 2 things not very good on the traces:pingtime to first hop should be far better. As you use an internal LAN IP on your computer you must have a router anywhere (or your modem acts as one), in both cases the first hop 10.145.0.1 should be your modem, so from your computer it should take maximum 2-3ms (if your on windows vista ignore this, this is a bug in tracert on first node)Second thing is the third trace had one timeout on 172.23.9.169, this is the router of your Provider where your modem connects to, so explicitly this is the main line for your internet connection, on this there should be no timeouts happening. What you can do is running "ping 172.23.9.169 -t" for some hours and look how many packetlosses there where. (at best when the zone bug in EQ2 happens). If its showing more then 1-2 losses per 1000 pings you should contact your ISP and tell them that your line looses packets between modem and first router of them.

Well, I am on Windows Vista for the first thing you said.

As far as the second, I started pinging, however it is 8:45 right now and I am leaving town for work at 9:00 and won't be home for a day, so I guess I'll just let it run, then post my results when I get back. So far all I am getting is between 7 and 18 MS, without about 9 being the average.

I'd like to add some information about my internet connection. I use Atlantic Broadband and my computer is hooked up through a Linksys Wireless Router. Through the router there is also a hub hooked up. My internet is shared with, at the most, 7 other computers at the same time, which is why I have the fatest speed available from Atlantic Broadband. And I am not hooked up wirelessly.

Thank you for helping.

Though SOE cannot guarantee support for any firewalls or routers, we can provide you with the following information to help you configure them properly in order to play our games.EQ: Router/Firewallhttp://help.station.sony.com/cgi-bi...hp?p_faqid=1668EQ II: Router /Firewallhttp://help.station.sony.com/cgi-bi...p?p_faqid=12293EQOA: Router http://help.station.sony.com/cgi-bi...hp?p_faqid=2193MatrixOnline:In order for the game servers to communicate with your game client reliably, firewalls and routers may need to be configured to allow traffic on TCP ports 80, 5190, 11000, and 10000. If setting up Port Forwarding, use trigger port 7000 for all games except MxO. For MxO, use port 80 as the trigger port.

As far as firewalls go, I am using a Linksys router and I have those ports opened and I am a DMZ host, thus negating my routers firewall, so I don't believe that is the problem.

And I think three coputers use wireless, the other are hooked into the router or to a hub (I am not in the hub).

Please any assistance would be helpful, phone support has no idea what to do, I've called there three times...
