I've had this problem for a week. After the last hotfix patcher will not complete. It runs until the last file (eq2_keymap_other.ini_delta) and cancels the download. I've tried a full rescan, turning all virus protection and ms vista defender off, a uninstall of the game also clearing any references to eq2 or everquest from the registry and then reinstall. It still never gets past this point. If I use the other eq2 exe it loads the game, can't find a server.

Can anyone help?

I'm pretty much experiencing the same problem. Happened to me on saturday when I was downloading the new patch, and wonderful soe tech suppport webpage doesnt work.

I did find some things that may help you but dont really count on it because they did not help me.

go to Start > Run > msconfig > disable all start up programs > restart > try running it again

OR

run antivirus and a spyware destroyer

I found these on the tech support webpage freq asked questions. Its worth a try but dont get excited cus it didnt work for me and it sounds like we are experiencing the same problem. I made a post earlier about it titled TECH SUPPORT webpage NOT WORKING and havnt got a responce there either. Hopefully someone sees our posts!

I just bought the game at it is doing the same thing that yo guys are talking about here. No "play" button or character create button is listed for me. I am 100% new to the game so I don't really know what to look for at all. Where do you find the eq2.exe?

Having the same problem. Just reinstalled due to another issue and now this. Getting pretty frustrating. Patcher finishes analyzing the files, but cancels right at the patch itself.

If you guys are using vista make sure you run it as an adminastrator thats what did it for me.
