I can't decide what to play. I just came back from a couple month break, after only playing for about a month. I got a mystic to 31, a swashy to 21 that I deleted and a ranger to 24.

I know the race of my new main, froglok for sure. I just can't decide on the class. These are what appeal to me and what I'd like to lvl:

Swashbuckler

Ranger

Troub/dirge

Monk

I'm just not sure which to do. I want something that isn't a dime a dozen, but something that people want. I want good damage, the ability to solo when needed, but also a really good group role. Something with abilities that sets it apart and makes it a cool class to play. I've leveled all of those classes to or past 10(except dirge) I just can't decide which to make my main.

Any suggestions would be kindly appreciated. I'm really stuck on what to choose. I want to look cool, be effective, and have fun playing my class. Although if I look cool and am effective, and have cool skills, that will make it fun for me.

So, any input or suggestions?

I would go for one of the bards. Haven't played the dirge that much, but got a 50+ Troub. I did enjoy playing her.Maybe not the best solo class, but its not that bad either. If you do like the support class you will notice a nice effects in groups.

My main is a dirge and of all the classes I have played it can solo the worst even with the best equipment. Bards aren't soloers, though they are usually wanted by any group. Also bards get less attack skills as other scouts, as we get permanent buffs where others get attacks. So they are somewhat unspectacular but add a lot to a group.Swashbucklers and Rangers can solo better than a dirge ... then again Templars are probably the only class that can solo worse than a bard . They also add damage to any group so they are needed. Rangers may be a bit more unique because they are the only real ranged melee class. In my opinion Swashbucklers are just another melee DD class that has some debuffs.Tanks are more common than scouts, so a monk won't be all that special. Monks can replace a real tank if you just can't find one or they can add some damage to a group.

For those who say Dirges cant solo, that's quite untrue.I have a dirge (only lvl 33 atm I admit) who is xp locked, levelling from quests only and I can solo just fine. I was soloing blue ^^^ in RoV yesterday. Unless things change drastically as I level, Dirges most definately can solo well.

Simple answer... make them all. You have 7 character slots to use (plus another 7 in a different region and 7 on test), play a different character every day of the week

But seriously, no one can really tell you what you will enjoy playing but yourself. I started out with a human shadowknight after i played one in eq1, i also then found furies kick [Removed for Content], and my kungfu fighing huge-arsed ogre bruiser is fantastic fun to play.

My best advice is to experiment and enjoy the journey to level 70.

I'll just add my two coppers here.

I've done mostly solo (Swashie to mid 60s all solo - and a Drige to 62 completely solo and an Arasai SK to 50s all solo) - so this opinion is strictly mine - based on my soloing.

Ive found that any of the scout class can solo fairly well. I had no trouble at all soloing with my Swashie. Of all the classes (and Ive tried to take all the classes to at least mid 30s) Swashie has been my favorite.

Xephyer
