My husband and I decided we want to come back to EQ2 after being away for more than a year, but we encountered a problem.

My husband's computer runs Windows XP and he was able to flawlessly install the game, download all patches and log in. However, my computer runs a Windows Vista (32-bit) and as soon as I get to the patcher, a message pops us that says the patcher failed to initialize and that the server may be busy. In the details window it says the patcher failed to find a proper connection.

We both share one internet connection through a router. I tried disabling my firewall, put EQ2.exe and Launcher.exe on the exceptions list both in the built-in firewall and McAfee, I checked to see if my Work Offline option is checked in IE7 (it isn't), right-clicked on the EQ2.exe icon and checked the "run as administrator" tab. Also, I made sure that my computer account has permission to do anything to the game folder itself.

So, currently, I am at a loss. If anyone knows how to fix it, I will be more than grateful.

I will post my computer configuration if needed.
