Greetings,I was wondering if anybody had this configuration: Dell Inspiron 1520, T7500 CPU, 4GBs of RAM 8600M GT GeForce and 120GB 7200RPM HDD. It also comes pre-loaded with Vista and I'm not sure how well EQ2 runs on it. Any thoughts would be appreciated thanks!Alex

if theres no "special" problem with a specific peace of hardware im not aware of, it should run very well with that

I am also using dell machines and never had any problems playing eq2 up until the day when i ordered my latest computer from dell with windows vista 32bit.

The last 2 weeks i was not able to play, but hunt down several problems(application ran out of memory..., <verify>D:liveeq2framewordcoredevicessrcdirectx9 render device.cpp(1024) failed to create D3D device for Nvidia Ge force and of course that you have to set all the exe files to administrator and kompatible to windows xp otherwise you cannot even start the client)

zero help from soe tech support, no posts or updates in months. some problems exist since January 2007! only got rid of some problems by reading player posts.

So to answer your question, Dell Computers do fine with eq2, but windows vista doesn´t

Nvidia video card, Intel Core Duo, Quad Core and AMD X2 processors. Did the fix to the graphics resolution (dial down a slight bit off full graphics, alter the LOD a little) and have not recieved the out of memory crash in a long time.

I just recieved my new Dell Inspiron 1720 - Intel Core2 Duo T7300 2.0GHz, 2GB Memory, Geforce 8600M GT and Vista 32-bit.

It should be a nice computer to run EQ2 - but think again. I have had it logged in twice found myself a group and started to get some XP - but after about half an hour of gaming the laptop crash to bluescreen of death. When Vista starts up again it surgest to update drivers. Looking for new driver at nVidia results in nothing - they just refere to Dell - and there is NOTHING to get from Dell no driver what so ever except the included driver. So now I have a laptop (2 actually purchaced one for the wife aswell) that I cannot use to game EQ2

Anyone know where to get an driver that works with Vista, Geforce 8600M GT and EQ2?

Thanks for all the replies, this has been very helpful. So it seems like ALL Dell Vista laptops have this problem with running EQ2?

Also couldn't I just format the drive and put my copy of XP Professional on, wouldn't that take care of the problem? Or my version of Vista Business?

Or is the problem with EQ2 on Vista always going to be there?

Thanks!Alex

While you can get it to run on them it is not officially supported. EQ2 runs on Vista, running on 4 different desktops now, and for the last 2 years counting beta.

What steps have you taken to run it under Vista?

Hmm if I can't play EQ2 on this Dell it will be disappointing to say the least. I've even ordered two, one for me and one for my wife. If I do run into problems, will there be workarounds or is it just a done deal? Thanks!Alex

I have just placed the order for it, I haven't actually received it yet. It's sole purpose is not gaming though, at least not for me but it would be a nice extra to be able to run EQ2 on it.

Alex
