So what's the catch with same alignment "betrayal"? For example, from Freeport to Neriak? A buddy of mine did this to test it out and so far he's telling me there's no real downside. He can still do writs for the freeport factions, his stuff wasn't reset to apprentice 1, and no other ill effects other than obviously losing "Call of the Overlord" and having Freeport go to 5k or whatever it is and Neriak go to 40k.I keep reading in other places about spell resets and other ill effects (even when staying the same class), but that doesn't seem to be the case here. I love Freeport, it's a nice city...the only problem is that the housing sucks. Houses have these wood rafters going all through the middle of the room; some rooms aren't even rooms, but just have a little divider thing in the middle of the room, pseudo splitting it into two, some "rooms" don't even have walls at all, etc. Then there's that courtyard thing. Double you tee eff is that? Counts as a room too.I visited his 5 room (cheap too, and no guild/status requirements. uber) in Neriak and Neriak housing > Freeport housing. Big time. Really nice layout, actually has walls to define rooms, nice default wall style. I wish Freeport housing wasn't so bad. I'd do the switch to Neriak, especially since my main is a dark elf and since I first read about Neriak back in December 2004 and have been waiting for this day. But I don't want to lose out on Freeport writs and factions that I've been building up and I'll be dammed if I'm going to have all my masters and adepts 3s reset to app1.

Going within the evil block wont do that, and since both neriak and freeport are evil, move to neriak if you like it better.

Well I only like the housing better. Freeport is a better city overall. Neriak is too dark and too small. It's tempting though, as my first experience with the EQ universe is when I started playing EQ2, so when I first read about Neriak during the Fallen Gate access quest back in 12/04, I've been longing to see Neriak as a city for my dark elf to visit and call home. So I guess the only real catch is not being able to have dual citizenship and dual gates, like you can with your home city and Maj'Dul.

I was a Necromancer with a freshly purchased home in Freeport. I moved from Longshadow alley to Freeport because I wanted to be in a larger area.

Then.....Neriak came out...I could not explain it, but I really loved the feel of that place...it is dark, but well lit at the same time...it has everything I could ever need. If I want to travel, I can get to TS and Nek Docks for free, if I want Freeport, I need only run to carpet in Darklight woods to SS, then Freeport....piece of cake. I bought a 5 room house there only around 6 days after purchasing one in Freeport....and I have never regreted my decision. I did the quick and easy citizenship quest and now can call there whenever I want. I even like to roam around and climb on roofs when I am chatting, or waiting on a guildie.

The city is just very well done, a fiest for the eyes and I cannot see getting sick of the sight of it as I did with Freeport.

Going from Evil to Evil or from Good to Good is not a betrayal, it's more a change in citizenship between allies.

I've had lots of caffeine. That makes me analogy-happy:If I move form New York to California, I need to surrender my old driver's license and get a new one. If I move from Brooklyn to Queens, or even from Manhattan to Albany, nothing changes except my address and my travel routes.

Well that sure explains a lot.

I've been doing the teleport to Nek, two griffon rides and a run to freeport pier bells. Your route sounds much easier.

The carpet is in Darklight woods at the fair.

I moved my new character to Neriak from Freeport because in Dockside Markets you have a Banker, Broker, Tradeskill area, Collection hand in NPC and single point to hand in status items all in one area. Plus you have straight access to TS and Nek Forest. The teleports make it easy to move about and it's nothing like the maze that Freeport is
