Starting to raid with my assy , i m having heavy problems to get in back of mobs or in range enough fast and long to dps correctly. Tried to ask for a correct positionning of MT during pulls , to avoid ping-pong with aggro . Even casting my High-elf illu to see better the battle field (i m fae) . Is there an UI that help to target, or do you have a trick for that ? with 10+ more toons standing in front of me, mobs moving , i m running from one to another loosing precious seconds to dps, or launch a big attack during a combo... Any tip to be a better raid assy would help

It's mostly practice. Takes a few weeks to get used to it. You can increase the target arrow color/size to make the currently selected mob stand out more with that arrow over their head.

As Jayad said it will take a bit of getting used to, but you will get there after a couple of raids.

All i'd say is try using your HE illusion as it should help by making you taller and always play in 3rd person view as in 1st person you wont see anything on a raid.

I have visibility problems as a kerran as well. Two things that help me. First set up a tab in your chat window to show only your combat messages. I use this to let me know when I am close enough to the mob for auto-attack. Second, I use crippling strike and my masked/puncture combo early to check my positioning. Cloaking and doing almost any backstab will turn you towards your target or implied target. Often with multi mobs, when they are all highlighted, I can't figure out which one i need to line up on. So I use that trick to get facing the right way, then move forward till my auto attacks start landing, and strafe left or right till crippling or the combo can land. -h

There's an option buried somewhere that lets you change the color of your target to RED and your target's target to blue. This has really helped me pick out the back of the mob and I highly recommend it. You can expirement in east freeport or anywhere by targetting NPCs or broker AFK people until you get the results you want.

Also make sure you go into your graphics settings and turn off all particle effects. I can't see anything when theyre turned on.

My assi is tiny as they come... a little gnome... and in the thick of things it can be very hard to tell. Here is what I have done (which is mostly a recap of everyone elses comments):

1. You can go into the settings and set implied target to glow a blue color... this not only helps with positioning... but it gives you an idea in grouped mobs. I didn't like it at first... but I quickly adjusted and now I don't really notice.

2. You will learn to position yourself to be close enough by continually tapping the forward key you will "hit" the back of the mob and then you will stop... if you keep doing it you will begin to circle the mob (if you are in combat). This is a skill which is hard to describe... I do it without thinking now so I can't tell you exactly what I do... play with it (I think I may be doing a combo of "W" and either "A" or "D" which causes you to flank sideways). Th

3. On the pull... if space allows... I will actually stand between the tank and the mob (be very careful with this... it depends where the mob is and whether the tank is rushing or pulling back through... if you pull the mob a. you're dead and b. you'll [Removed for Content] off your raid leadership. The reason for this is if you stand a few feet then the mob runs past you (which I hit them with the AOE as they run by, be careful if you do this... it can get you killed) and it will naturally leave the mob's [Removed for Content] right in front of you. Works great. Otherwise... learn how your tank pulls, where the mobs are... and be at the right place at the right time so you don't have to move much.

4. Turn off your graphics (my computer won't run high in raids so it's not an issue) it makes it a whole lot easier.

5. I start with my debuffs and dots (as recommended by Jayad)... the reason... they have a longer range and you can cast them on the run while you get into position.

Doing these I am often one of the first in position and am in position before the MA picks his target.
