Hi all,

I use to play eq2 as an assassin... I quit at around level 58 about a year and a half ago (around the time the 2nd expansion was in beta). Anyhow, I'm thinking of comming back, but a few questions before I do.

1. Has the class changed signifigantly over that time? Will it be like learning a new class all over again? Or will the play still be familiar?

2. As far as the power curve goes, have we gained or lost ground?

3. Are Assassins valued in the end game? (My memory is hazy, but I seem to remember raid groups prefering rangers).

4. Hows soloing as an assassin now? I have bad memories of losing mose the dps potential without a tank around to keep the mobs attention.

Also... what adventure packs and expansions are worth grabbing right away, and which ones can wait till I start leveling again?

-- 1. Has the class changed signifigantly over that time? Will it be like learning a new class all over again? Or will the play still be familiar? It's not too different than the T6 days other than you have AAs now. The AAs just tend to enhance what we have. -- 2. As far as the power curve goes, have we gained or lost ground? In the original T6 rangers were much better. I think assassins are pretty closely balanced with other top DPS classes, maybe a slight edge to rangers. Your skill is a bigger factor than any class difference. -- 3. Are Assassins valued in the end game? (My memory is hazy, but I seem to remember raid groups prefering rangers). They're valued as a melee dps class. I don't think guilds make a huge distinction between swashies, assassins, and rangers as far as filling up the raid. -- 4. Hows soloing as an assassin now? I have bad memories of losing mose the dps potential without a tank around to keep the mobs attention. You do lose a lot. It's possible to solo as an assassin okay just it's not what they're built for. You can take down white heroics with the right gear and skills, but I won't say it's easy. -- Also... what adventure packs and expansions are worth grabbing right away, and which ones can wait till I start leveling again? EOF is an obvious choice. I think it includes some of the others but I can't remember off the top of my head. most guilds raid KOS so you'd need that as well - maybe for their AAs too. (EOF might include it)
