So I was walking around thundering steppes docks and I saw a Guardian, he was in Mastercrafted, had grizzlefazzles shield, And Modintholis, He Sends me a tell "Wow, All that great Gear and you have And you have Only 200 more mit and 45% Avoidence!", Now, Im Rolling with a Buckler in Off Stance, he has a Tower sheild in Defence stance, and he has 2% less avoidence then I do, Which Really Kind of Made me Laugh, But I kindly Said, Im In offence stance, Makes me Tank better, then he says "um, You must be The worst tank on the server!", Hehe... Sorry I just had to get this out of my system

Well, there are a ton of really really bad tanks out there that don't know anything about how to play their class, much less how the other tank classes work. Looks like you found one They're rampant if you ever join PUGs as something other then a tank. Just for kicks I've joined PUGs with guildies a couple of times and made the PUG DPSers cry by completely smashing their parse Gotta love it.

People like that are only worthy of a little chuckle, as they will probably never understand why they have issues with their skills. Because, they will simply never let others advise or teach them. He had an oppourtunity to learn a lot that day, and instead chose to be derisive. He'll suffer the consequences.

Ever see a Guardian Tanking in a PUG group and the first thing you do is pull aggro off him (when he has Hate buffs..) then he complains that he is the main tank and I shouldnt taunt.. I told him I dont even taunt when im main tank

I'm always laughing at how many people don't bother reading the forums for thier class or the test server patch notes.

People running around trying to get like 7k mit... or using 2 handers etc...

earlier this week when I found out status items were being nerfed so I couldn't gain guild exp with the release of kunark I sold all my stash... 3 rosewood boxes full of stacks of this stuff... people bought it ALL in like 30 mins.... because no one read the info.

I will admit back in the day I thought I should tank in defensive and be defensive AA based... my AA trees was Wisdom and some down INT for a while... I used a tower shield.. and tanked in defensive. I *THOUGHT* that was the logical thing for a tank to do... you know be as defensive as possible.

The issue came in that I noticed I was having massive problems with aggro control... I came here... and read up... I saw how many people said they were STA line and how happy they were with thier ability to tank like that. I gave it a shot and was sold.

Ironically with the dimished returns curve... if you have like any high-end EoF gear at all odds are you are better off tanking in offensive with a buckler because doing anthing else is going to chuck power (DPS or MIT... either one) into the dimished returns black hole.

In most groups you can probably get away without taunting to keep your DPS high which in turns takes the place of taunts which if you don't need them are actually nothing more than power-sinks and wasted weapon swings... so I understand what you are saying on not using taunts... and if you have an assassin and a dirge or troub or something of that nature to help with aggro management you can get by most the time without taunts.... I find that when 3 boxing i still need the taunts because I am not as attentive as I should be.

Although I understand what you are saying about not needing taunts to tank... or tanking in offensive... I do have to say it's best to give a 5 second explanation like "Aggro > mitigation after your gear gets to a certain point" or "if you have DPS you don't need taunts as much... your DPS is low mine is high therefore I have aggro" Something like that... because you know you walked away from these people and they honestly thought you were *a little on the slow side*. I find it's worth it to let them know they are the ones with limited intellect and not me.

I hope you still kept your t7 status items. They will give guild xp up to guild lvl 70. According to Test that is.

Until it goes live, anyone under GL60 can benefit from status loot of any tier immediately. My guild is level 53, I've been actively seeking cheap status loot thinking people will have some to unload because of the upcoming change.

I sold mine.. got plat... invested it into trade skilling so I can be self-sufficient in T8 for drink, arrows, power regen totems, and tinkered gadgets etc... Just don't be surprised when SOE nails you from being able to instantly ding your guild and you are sitting on like 10 plat of items now worth 50 silver.... I don't have enough plat to take those risks so I reinvested.

I am not keeping mine, I just pointed out that not all people read the notes even when they make fun of others who dont.I am selling my status items to get 'free' status to my alts. My lvl 70's get all the status they need (and more) from raiding.

dw you get alot of idiots out there.... i saw a guardian in xegonite armour with a crappy tower shield, and in his bio it said, 3rd best equiped tank on the serveri never got around to asking him if hes joking but it also said 1st best equiped tank worldwide

It is quite funny...

There are people that are so hell bent on the numbers, when in fact they mean so very little.

Yes, from one extreme to another, you will see a difference.

But comparing 2 people, one with 5% more mit, 10% more avoidance, 10% more health...etc, assuming the both know and play their character very well...the difference is so small.

Sure there may be some rare occasion where a tiny bit would help I guess.

But I know that the guardian in my guild, sits raid buffed at 75% avoidance without any temporary buffs. Over the 455 cap on defense and parry. Tower shield, defensive stance, block adornments, 5% block bp, 5% block sod weapon.

I don't have that bp or rarely use that weapon. I use offensive stance and sit at around 375 defense and parry. With my buckler I think I'm around 55% avoidance. That's 20% difference, and we're about the same mitigation.

We both have succesfully tanked about everything in the game (except the new avatar). And looking at the parse he will most times take less damage overall, but there have been atleast a couple avatar fights that I have taken less damage. There are alot of other factors though, like debuffs on the mob(s), etc etc. Healers say the can notice a little difference, but I'm sure this is due more to the fact that he has a few life savers...aka dragoons reflexs and tower of stone, and much less due to his whopping 20% avoidance advantage. Remember these numbers are only useful against even con mobs (heroics and epics have modifers). And how many people actually run around killing even con non-heroic (or epic) mobs. The heroics (and the epics to even more extent) hit very often and use CA's/spells that simply do not miss, regardless of avoidance # in persona.
