View Full Version : Target switches automatically

So I was almost banging my head into the wall not only in frustration, but also because I thought I deserved the associated pain. I thought I had a problem with switching targets unintentionally by accidentally clicking my mouse. This has got me killed a few times, and occasionally put my group in trouble. Yesterday I was so frustrated by this that I even removed my hands off of the mouse buttons when I wasn't using them, and that's when I got surprised.Apparently, the game likes to occasionally switch target for you automatically while in combat. I wasn't touching neither the mouse or keyboard, and noticed this several times. I didn't kill anyone part of the encounter whenever it happened either, so it doesn't switch target because of that. I'm not sure what's causing it.I would make a wild guess that it's somehow related to the automatic targetting when you take damage. Perhaps it switches target if you're damaged by something before you manage to damage something else (so the game assumes you want the thing damaging you targetted). But as I said, that's just a wild guess, and target switches occur in the middle of combat (I'm not talking about the automatic targetting you get when you first initiate combat).Did anyone else notice this, and know what causes it and how to avoid it? Looks like a bug to me.

<p>Probably a fighter mob taunting you.</p>

Targetting changes can happen when mobs taunt you, otherwise it'll be useless the mobs having taunt.

Fighter mobs can taunt you off target, some spell effects from mobs can make you lose target as well (like Fitz).

Also the little tator tots on the Eye in LoA .. can't think of his name and I am not in game so I can check my target macro.

Gnorbl the Playful. I'm assuming the tots are classified as "fighter" mobs. They taunt like mad, the little buggers.

Ahh that's why! That's actually a pretty smart implementation to simulate taunt on players (which afaik is unheard of in any other MMOG). Thanks for clearing that up! I thought I was dealing with a bug.

<p>I was impressed how they implemented mob taunts.</p><p>It can be frustrating at times but it forces you to pay attention in combat. <img src="http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/images/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" width="15" height="15" /></p>

<p>They now need to impliment guardian-type mobs with reactive taunts on them that lock you onto the mob for 3 seconds every time you damage them.</p><p>That'd REALLY spice things up <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p>
