Greetings

I recently started playing EQ2 (as of about a month ago) and since have filled all 7 of my character slots with various classes. I was wondering, will the next expansion increase the number of characters allowed per account?

I'd like to create a new character in the new zone so if not, I'll stop leveling one of my "under 10" alts and delete her when the expansion hits.

Thanks

I really hope so! I'd love another character slot.

Many of us hope so, but who is to know? I'm putting the odds at 50/50 atm.

I would love another slot, but I'm not holding my breath. My guess is that it will be at least a year from the last slot before we get another, and that would mean not before next May. At the soonest. If. Sorry, too gloomy?

As a new caractor slot is NOT on the feature list of RoK, and they would be shouting it from the roof tops if they intend to add it. I would say the odds of a new slot with the expaintion(especally consitering they just added a new slot not that long ago) is somewhere between slim and none. That said they have already added multiple slots in LUs and nothing (other then some "techincal issues" ) keeping them from adding more slots between expaintions.

Note Techincal issues is a VERY broad term and could mean anything from the Higher ups at Sony Pictures saying NO to contractual arrangments between SoE devisions to accual issues consterning the capablities of thier databases and such.

I would be happy if you could buy some more slots. But 15$ more each month just for 4 more slots is a little expensive^^

They already added 2 more character slots when Neriak came out, from what I heard to cover both Neriak and RoK, so no at this time I think the chance of getting even more character slots is very low.

Then again if your willing to play $15 a month just for 5 slots why not pick up a second copy of EoF and get 7 slots for that same $15 a month. All Access was never ment to be a way to buy more caractor slots it was at the begining of it and is even more so now a way for someone playing multiple SoE games to be able to play those games at a reduced cost(ofcourse if you only play 2 games that reduction is about 2cents.)

I thought its 7 and 11 now. But still 5 slots for 15$ is too expensive and I don't see the reason why they don't make a better offer just for character slots. You can allready buy aditional stuff like 'chat with guild', item database etc.

Switching account on one computer is very time consuming and not practical if you just need something from a toon on the other account.True you would have to buy extra expaintions for that addtional caractor and its far slower to switch toons(if your computer is not capable enough to run 2 clients at the same time) with 2 accounts. I am just saying over time it's a better deal to have 2 accounts then Station all access. When did they increase it to 5 slots ? I thought its 7 and 11 now. They did it the same time they increased the standard account count from 6 to 7. But still 5 slots for 15$ is too expensive and I don't see the reason why they don't make a better offer just for character slots. You can allready buy aditional stuff like 'chat with guild', item database etc.I agree if the only perpose of All Access was to buy more slots then yes its WAY too much. But consitering the perpose is to allow you to play upto 6 soon to be 7(with PotBS) for 1 fee its accually a very good deal, if you play more then 1 SoE MMO. As for why they just don't offer al'acart Slot buying I think its for the same "technical" reasons that they don't add more slots more often.

They didn't really add two slots when Neriak came out unless you are counting the one they added to Station Pass. To standard accounts, there was only one slot added.

Standard accounts got 6 + 1 and All Access accounts got 10 + 2.

As for a new character slot with the expansion, I sadly think you shouldn't get your hopes up. It's not been too long ago they added the last extra slot for one thing and a dev stated at some point fairly recently that while they'd like to add more slots, it involved decisions from more than just the EQ2 team so wasn't as easy as just opening up some slots.

Well, it's 4 slots for Station Access, plus they gave us SA an additional 2 slots..for a total of 12 slots! Probably still better to just dual box, but hey....who has two computers to run simultaneously?

lol...to the database that slot may be real, but to me it is not, since I can't use it.

Lightstrider wrote:
lol...to the database that slot may be real, but to me it is not, since I can't use it.
Like I said to you its not but you are still using whatever resources required of suppling 12 slots, and IF it is accually a resouce issue then it does not matter if its real to you or not, what matters is if its real to the database. Besides is MORE likly that the issue is between EQ2's dev team and the Station Access people(who are a differant Devistion) basicly if EQ2 keeps offering more free slots it makes Station Access less and less desirable for those that just want extra slots(though this is a dumb reason IMO to have All Access as you get more slots with 2 accounts for the same price(though there is some iteam sharing issues with that)), wich is most likly why this last time standard accounts only got 1 slot while All Access got 2.
