View Full Version : Just have to vent... GMs lack in quality

I am utterly sick and tired of the SOE staff's and GM's' lack of resources, common sense, reading and understanding skills, time or whatever combination of those, and thought I'd share this little story, one of many examples I and friends in EQ2 have experienced lately.I was in PoA working on Audience with Aaryonar and accidentally placed Gem IV on the wrong flag - bummer, I had to win that Gem again. Gem IV dropped again several times for other mebers in the group tha twere on the same stage, but I was never poffered the option to loot it again (remember they changed the chest drop contents depending on LORE and quest item needs etc).Naturally I wrote a petition. In fact I wrote 2 times that the Gem IV dropped again for other group members and they were offered an option to loot it, but not my character. The replies from the GMs were along the lines of (I won't make direct quotes, don't want to point fingers) "Good luck, it will drop again" and "Find a group member that is on the same stage in the quest" - Which is exactly what we DID BEFORE the petition and WROTE IN THE PETITION! I just can't see why the GMs can't read the full petition instead of making assumptions and suggesting things that were already done and described in the petition. We solved the problem by totally erasing that Claymore quest stage AND repeated the same mistake on purpose to check that the bug is reproducible. Meanwhile a new GM mails a new form answer, again without reading or at least understanding the petition. Luckily that quest in the Claymore quest line is re-startable, but if not, I would be stuck because of this bug and the GMs' inability read written text of longer than 2 sentences. In short: if someone places a gem in the wrong spot, the gem does not drop again for that character no matter what, and the GMs assume that we were lazy (they suggested that in one of the replies "I can surely appreciate your frustration over this error as I have had a very similar misstep happen to me just the other day as I was questing. I am unable to assist you with it and you simply need to obtain the gem required and do it over again. It will take time and patience as these drops 100% random but I feel sure you will be done in no time." Well it's nice to know someone has empathy, but it would be nice if they also could read and understand.I am quite disappointed in the way the gme is heading, with more and more complexity and bugs that do not get corrected with time; instead new complexity and bug sources are introduced, at the same time as the Guide and GM skills decrease even faster... I won't quit the game over this or threaten to do so over this, or other reasons (so no, you can't have my stuff <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY<img mce_tsrc=" />) but just had to express my worry that this trend will go on.Kornelia on Splitpaw

I'm pretty sure direct CS issues shouldn't be taken up in these forums.

SC

StormCinder wrote:

I'm pretty sure direct CS issues shouldn't be taken up in these forums.

SC

That's possible, if it had been a single issue that was in question, but as I stated in my post, that case served as an example of something that's been going on for a while recently: form replies, not reading the full petitions etc - that's what's worrying me, not that single issue (especially since it was fixable anyway)

I understand the desire to vent. Having played these games for years, I have had my own frustrating times with CS where I've had to think, "huh?" Being a forum moderator does not mean a free pass in-game with issues!Being a forum moderator, however, I also know that posters say "huh?" (usually with stronger wording) with some of the things I do when I moderate. Maybe I misread something, maybe I just plain messed up, or maybe the person complaining just didn't like me enforcing the forum policy. The best thing to do is keep a level head and re-contact CS and explain the issue. As stated in the forum rules, however, you may NOT:

Make posts seeking or giving feedback about Customer Service resolutions. All requests and feedback about Customer Service issues should be handled through petitions or emails using the Knowledge Base (www.station.sony.com/kb) and selecting Email Support.

Since Autenil was kind enough to reply to this, I am going to go ahead an open the thread back up for further comment on the gems loot issue, giving Autenil a pat on the back for addressing the issue in code so quickly, etc. Please, however, do not turn the discussion into a rant on CS.

Having just had a thread deleted in this issue I can relate to this.

Just to let you know...

I had an issue in game about a week or two ago. I dont really want to go over the details....but anyway i sent in the petition/reported player that took my stuff and was a GM contacting me **REPLACING MY ITEMS** no longer than 20 minutes after i sent the ticket. Now, is it usually this fast? i doubt it but i was amazed i even got my items back much less heard from SoE 20 minutes later.....

I thought i might have heard a few days/weeks/never from them...but was totally suprised at how nice they was and even asked if i was in a safe place to talk to them. I was very impressed and i guess it just all depends on which GM you end up with or something. He was very nice and i even seen him chatting in a normal channel to new players not even revealing that he worked for SOE. It was kinda wierd. Guess you never know who your talking to in those chat channels

Sometimes though you are delt with by people that make me take issue with Echgar's (SOEs) policy of not allowing us to provide generalised negative feedback of the in game CS support on the forums.

I find this 'company line' to be cynical in the extreme, and remarkably standoffish, but I guess that could be down to UK / US cultural diferences.

edit: standoffish stance made no sense

Alright folks, I had opened this thread back up since a developer posted to it but as it keeps circling back around to CS issues, I think it is time to call it a day and close the thread. As stated in the forum rules, you may NOT:

Make posts seeking or giving feedback about Customer Service resolutions.
