My guild killed Mayong in MIS last night for the first time. I went linkdead about 33% into the kill. I got back online before Mayong died and stood there and watched as they killed him. Obviously they could not invite me back into the raid during the fight. So I didn't get flagged for the update. I /petitioned and waited and waited and waited for a reply (It came about 30 seconds after I logged out early in the morning): Greetings Covert! Thank you for contacting Sony Online Entertainment in-game Customer Service Department. This is GM --------. I am sorry to know that your guild and you fought Mayong for the Soulfire Update; unfortunately, you went linkdeath due to which you did not get the update. I tried to contact you in the game but you were offline. I suggest that you please redo the task, as we don't assist player to update their quest if they miss any steps due to linkdeath. It is against our policy. Therefore, you please find a group, and redo the task once again to proceed further in the quest. Your patience and understanding is highly appreciated. If you experience any other issues then feel free to contact us. Thank you for playing EverQuest II and happy gaming! Is this really SOE policy? Your buggy code knocks me offline briefly, your concern over exploiting prevents me from being reinvited to raid, and my standing right there watching the raid (I was just in until I went linkdead) kill Mayong doesn't flag me for the SOD update? Also, I think it's bad customer service to wait until someone logs out before responding to his /petition. Yes, I know it's easier from your end not to have to engage someone in a discussion that will turn into an argument when you explain that you're screwing him over. But it's still the mature thing to do. If you're willing to enforce a bad policy, at least be willing to do it face to face. I waited almost 4 hours online to hear from a GM, and they waited until I logged out then responded literally 30 seconds later. Come on.

So YOU went linkdead out of your whole guild and your blaming it on SoE? Why not call your internet provider? Maybe their system had a hiccup? You cannot blame a LD always on them. I know it sucks. But if you're the only one who went LD and it was caused by a problem on your end, that is not their fault. It sucks yes, but there is nothing they can do.Now, if it was the whole raid that dropped and got locked out of the zone, I have seen them reset timers. Also wanted to add. They are not obligated to wait around until you log in to answer your petition. They are already busy dealing with tons of petitions. If they had to wait until someone logged in to deal with it petitions would be resolve less quickly then they are. Fine, you did get someone talking to you chat to chat. But seriously the outcome would have been the same.

They waited until I LOGGED OUT. See, I waited for almost 4 hours before logging out, and then when I logged out, 30 seconds later they replied. Don't pretend like that was not intentional. It was even predicted by one of my Guildmates who said they do that a lot.

I sympathize, but as stated in the <a href="http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/posts/list.m?topic_id=176" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">forum rules</a>, you may NOT:<ul><li><span class="postbody">Make posts seeking or giving feedback about Customer Service resolutions. All requests and feedback about Customer Service issues should be handled through petitions or emails using the Knowledge Base (<a href="http://www.station.sony.com/kb" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">www.station.sony.com/kb</a>) and selecting Email Support.</span></li></ul><span class="postbody">I understand that sometimes players want a different answer from CS from the one they receive but CS also *tries* to treat everyone equally and fairly according to policy.  I suggest contacting them again as stated above to give your feedback (be constructive of course).</span>

<p>Please note that calling shenanighans on the CS due to you/your group going linkdead is not cool and will not be tolerated.  Such threads do nothing more then throw food to trolls.</p><p>~Gnobrin!</p>
