This might help you understand what is going on :

Game Maintenance: Friday, September 5, 2007On Wednesday, September 5, 2007 from 7:00 am to 9:00 am, all station services that require a login will be undergoing maintenance. Login to all games and forums will fail for a brief time. This should not affect in game play, only the login process.

I was in CMM with a group and was kicked off bc of login issues; have had the 'operation timed out' and now 'You do not have an EQ2 subscription." All part of this thing with login maintenance, Im sure .

Ya, we're getting the same Error message...This is getting a bit old. the nightmare last Friday was totally inexcusable. a guildmate was naked and penniless for **5 DAYS** due to the ill-conceived patch they put in and then not having a GM get back to his repeated requests for assistance.

It's European afternoon. There's at least a few hundred people from SP/Runnyeye who were playing when they went into the maintenance period, and more of us are coming hme from school/work by the minute. There's plenty of people playing EQ2 every hour of every day . . . just a shame they don't drop servers in the middle of the nigh Pacific, at least then it'd be early afternoon in Europe, and impact even fewer people. As it is the downtime extends well into normal playtimes for many people here in Europe.AGAIN.

In DDO there is a text box on the login screen in English, German and French (iirc) stating what the current position is with the servers. When update times are altered or an update is imminent and any other game-state changes that might happen on the fly.

I usually know about planned downtimes a week or more in advance. Its there on the login screen so you cant miss it.

No, leaving won't help. they don't care. what we need to do is get the industry regulated or monitored in some way by the goverment. They (SoE) don't seem to be able to clean up thier own house so maybe its time a regulatory body did it for them.

Greg

WHAT? Government regulation of MMO downtime? ROFL! What are you smoking that you think this would be a good idea? Please, no!BTW, Is this only affecting only some of the servers? I'm in-game now on one computer and have been for more than an hour, and I'm logged in on another (new) computer where I'm loading all the updates since the EofF cds came out. All seems to be working fine, but perhaps I'm just delusional? (Yippee! Very excited to have received a second really nice gaming computer for my b-day yesterday, and glad the loading is moving right along because I CAN'T WAIT to try out the new machine!)

I, too, was on before and during the downtime (and even zoned!) without any issues. Near the end ofthe downtime, I got booted while standing aobut but I assumed it was cause they were rebotting or some such thing and I lost connection.

amanda4 wrote:
More down time for that stupid card game. I am soooo gonna boycott it.
You know a) there is more going on at SoE then LoN, b) if LoN where going live they would HAVE to take down the servers because when it goes live booster packs will start droping from MoBs, and in order to add an Iteam to the loot tables they have to drop the servers. c)there is a certain game in beta being devloped by another company that is going to be using SoE's Log-in Server(you know the thing thats down) to access thier game, as it was developed outside SoE it was not using SoE's server, at some point they have to transition to SoE's log-in server, it could be going down in preperation for that.
